was about to ask a trio of usamerican girls if i could leave my bag with them while i explored sarakiniko and immediately did a 180 when i heard one of them say “i actually really respect immigrants now, ever since i went to spain and couldn’t understand spanish”. what do you mean Now

when i asked a couple where they were from and they were like “haha well it’s pretty obvious we’re from the states…” and i was like “actually i can never tell the difference between canadian and usamerican accents” and i have friends raised in the philippines or went to international schools in se asia who sound exactly like you so no you are not distinct u are not unique u are exactly like everyone else and no one outside of where you’re from can immediately place you

most embarrassing thing to admit is that i’ve had my fujifilm for 7+ years and in the last couple years felt totally creatively blocked, nothing looked the way i wanted it to, nothing felt right, i thought it was a temporary lapse in inspiration, and then i read a reddit comment about dynamic range, a setting i never really bothered to understand, and on this trip finally toggled it, and suddenly everything is beautiful again, i have this deep and persistent desire to capture every beautiful thing i see, what i see and feel aligns with what appears on my screen, and there’s nothing more satisfying than to adequately document / distil / translate / convey beauty into stillness that resonates in a similar or entirely different way with another person
