Below is a visual history of some of the best and also the weirdest advertising that I have ever seen. This is super off-the-wall abstract creative of which many have won various different industry awards. Some require a little explanation to understand the concept whilst others just can’t be explained at all. The tv- commercials are a whole different kettle of fish to these print ads and we hope to do a feature on those in the future. Looking back makes me excited for the advertising that the PS4 & Vita will bring in the coming years.

Star Wars has become so deeply embedded in today’s popular culture that it now even has its own day. May the 4th is Star Wars day as it was the month in which the movies were traditionally released. ‘May the 4th be with you’ is the day’s greeting that is shared between fans and originally sprung from a clever wordplay based on the movies inconic catchphrase “May the force with you”. This year’s Star Wars day is iconic as it marks the first year that Disney owns the franchise and also there is a lot of buzz as the Episode 7 cast was just recently announced. Many are expecting further news on the upcoming film today as the world’s eyes are focused on Star Wars.

These Justice League-inspired beer bottle designs were created by graphic designer Marcelo Rizzetto. Each features the superheroes logo as well as a flavoured brewski that mathes the heroes personality or powers. Unfortunately these are only a concept however I can imagine how popular they would be if they were real… Great! More incentive to drink!

Tokyo based pop art designer Mike Wrobel made waves last year when he released his fanart for Game of Thrones. Mike was even commissioned by HBO to produce original art for the current season. The work is a very simple character reimagining using 90s and 90s pop culture stereotypes and fashion tropes. The basic premise of each character is kept in the reimagining as an everyday person.
