Final Fantasy VII (PlayStation) - Opening Cutscene
This introduction gives me chills no matter how much I see it. FFVII does a fantastic job setting the scene for the game by showing a then unknown Aerith Gainsborough moving about a bustling burough before zooming out to show the humongous area of Midgar.
It also sets up a neat little juxtaposition by hinting at Aerith’s connection to the planet, fading from the stars to her face, showing she’s actually seeing some sparks on the street.
It can’t be overstated how aesthetically gorgeous both the visuals and soundtrack are together (and individually), not only for video games back in the 90s but have stood the test of time and are still great today.
