🌿 Inspiration doesn't come only from around you, it has to start within. Even if exciting and fascinating things are happening around you, if you do not have the drive to pour those feelings onto paper (or in this case onto the screen), then those moments will pass you by. You will remember them fondly, but without sharing them, you will feel as if you have disappointed yourself most of all. 🌊 • ✨ Even though you have to be careful of how you portray yourself, your genuine self still has to shine through, otherwise sharing your most precious moments will seem hollow and won't have any weight in the avalanche of information we receive over @instagram and other social media every day. 🍀 • 🌹 I feel like I have been disconnected from myself and from my personal goals due to my scholarly decisions. Not to say that that is bad, because it isn't. But you have to practice what you preach. And if my personal belief is that you have to take time for yourself every day, no matter what, and then I don't do as I say, I feel like I have let myself down. 🌙 • 🙏 There are not enough hours in the day to feel comfortable stopping certain things that are already happening, however you have to cut yourself off, say "that is enough" and take a breather. If you do not take care of yourself, how can you expect others to do so? It is your life, your decisions, your mistakes and your good fortunes. 🌊 I can practically taste the finish line. There's just one more exam to go and then I'll be free to pursue my thesis. And as you may have already figured it out, I've set myself a challenge - finishing the thesis by the middle of August. I really want to present it at the end of September, so that I can pursue a Bachelor's degree a bit earlier. ☀️ Taking photos is for me like having to breathe - I feel a profound need to do it. 🌿 I have always been partial to places that have fewer people. Sure, it can be nice to lose yourself in a large city like London and acquire anonymity you could never achieve at the countryside or in a small coastal village. However, I have always preferred smaller villages and cities to bigger ones. There's just something authentic about travelling through a small non-touristic place that does not cater mostly to outside visitors. 🌴 I have seen this kind of thing change some cities beyond recognition. My grandmother's village by the sea, for example, has changed from a picturesque postcard village to a tourist trap filled with cars, ice-cream parlours, small trinket shops and calamari stands on every street corner. 🌧️ It's the sad reality of tourism. It can make a place, but it can also break it. The mass of visitors that stomp through the streets of a small city that wasn't built for that amount of people, can easily destroy the architectural beauty and the pristine nature surrounding the tiny buildings. 🍋 • 😯 What about you? 🦎 You've been planning for weeks to take that perfect vacation with the people closest to you. You picked a day, a starting point, packed everything and you and your friends were already half way to your destination, when suddenly a storm appeared out of nowhere. You can relive your childhood by jumping into puddles that get in your way, when you're trying to reach the castle at the end of the road. Or you can try to cheer up that one friend that didn't bring an umbrella and decided to wear flip-flops on the only rainy day of the week. 🌿 The winter months are slowly turning into rainy spring. We've shed most of our warm clothes and put them at the back of our closets, leaving them to be forgotten until the next great winter. However with the shedding of all these layers, our travel habits change as well. Gone are the ten suitcases and seven extra bags filled to the brim with warm socks and additional pairs of gloves. The time has come for rain coats, umbrellas and weirdly patterned wool jackets that our grandmothers wore before us (but they somehow became very fashionable and trendy). 👑 • 🌵Now we can pack lightly - one suitcase or backpack per person (depending on where you're going and how long you'll be staying) plus a camera bag if you're itching for some nice photos.
