This fake yarn is supposedly better for sheep.

Aimed at people who don’t know where wool comes from, it’s 100% plastic. Yes, plastic.

So any garment you wash will release microfibres into the sea. It’ll never decompose.

You’re supposed to believe that sheep shearing is violent and cruel. There are imbeciles out there that work in an unprofessional manner while shearing, but that’s not the case overall.

Sheep don’t suffer from having their fleece removed.

Left on, the fleece can become a home for fly eggs and the subsequent maggots which can eat the sheep. Chemical treatments are available to prevent that happening. It’s much better for the sheep, the land and the farmer to avoid chemical use.

Some farmers are less conscientious than they should be about taking care of their stock, and the occasional tiny nick will happen, but no one is going to hire a shearer who is a) incompetent enough and b) uncaring enough to actually injure the animals to the point of bleeding, let alone the kind of horrors the internet claims.

Also, most breeds of sheep will literally die if they go too long without being sheared. PETA (and let’s face it, most of this anti-wool stuff can be traced back to deliberate misinformation from PETA) doesn’t care if sheep die, they have openly stated that they would prefer every domestic species that can no longer survive without humans go extinct rather than live in “"slavery.”“

Then you should support the decolonization of Hawai'i and give it back to the indigenous peoples there because they are why it's so beautiful and the waters are perfectly clear.

And while we're at it support #Land Back because if we give authority to care for the indigenous people here on the main land, we can probably have a place that's that beautiful as well (assuming it's not too far gone yet).

Native Hawaiians are only a minority because colonizers came in, brought diseases, murdered them, then forced them to convert to Christianity.

You don't get to gather a group of your best friends, break into a house, kill the whole family but the kid, live there for 20 years, then complain about minority rule when the kid says "Yo. Can I have my house back?"

i'm currently in a temporary shelter, but i still need to find a way to cover for my clothing etc. for when i leave here, as i didn't have any time to bring anything besides what i was wearing at the time.

alongside new clothes, i'm also looking to get a name change and a new phone number so my mom won't be able to track me down (+ i'm trans so the name change would help me a lot in general) and a brace for my scoliosis. (more details here)

Okay, so our last post has gotten frankly too long to share in full, it was getting shortened a lot, and our recent updates weren't always getting out there so.

We are two queer, homeless, disabled people living in Mississippi. We were evicted legally after months the landlords trying to evict us illegally, stalking us, and using fear tactics.

I am visibly trans and my hip is dislocated because of disability shit and I cannot walk to get shit if we need it, there's no uber here, and transportation is available but only from friends who will have to drive 30 mins to even get to us. My roomate, a queer indigenous man, also has dislocations preventing him from walking to places for us because of disability shit.

We need money for the hotel too, and food, and of course an apartment. We applied for one and expect to be approved, but that means fuck all if we can't afford the down-payment.

Our abusers are helping a little, and facilitating us getting the means to work from home if we can scrape together our side of the apartment funds.

Unfortunately, because of how long it took them to even agree to that (despite having promised help before withdrawing the offer when things got really bad), we spent a lot of money on the hotel, and we need as much help as we can get.

My roomate is doing drawing for people who donate (tho bc of disability shit, it may be a week before the actual drawing gets sent, pls be patient with him, he's going through it.)

We still have not gotten many donations at all in the past week, and I am panicking. hola! I’m making this post because I was recently sick for a week and on top of everything I had to take my cat to the vet that costed alot of money. I have been stressed out to no end on how im going to afford my lights to stay on and to pay my rent for the 27th .
