Earlier I saw someone straight up say they "would never trust a jewish woman to write maharet and makare with any sensitivity" like didn't couch it in calling hannah a zionist just straight up saying they don't trust her with the story for being jewish like what are we DOING here it's crazy people think that's ok to say :/

The simplistic “either/or” thinking in this fandom around the various types of bigotry and racism that are rampant here appalls me. There’s this assumption that if you appear to be speaking out more often about one type of bigotry than the others, then it means you don’t care about the other types. I can’t tell you how damaging this mindset is. Yes, anti-Blackness is an issue in this fandom; it is an issue everywhere. However, on average, more people speak out about anti-Blackness at a baseline than speak out about the South Asian racism and antisemitism. Anons who keep asking me why I have more posts about the latter two than about anti-Blackness, I’m telling you right now: it’s because I value how well covered/commented on anti-Blackness already is. However, I worry about how little I see people speaking out about the South Asian racism (which is of course closely tied to anti-Muslim sentiment) and antisemitism in comparison. So, I’m raising awareness where I sense gaps. Nowhere have I ever implied that people shouldn’t be talking about anti-Blackness. The real issue is that I see people trying to turn this into one of those competitions between forms of oppression, and I’m deeply uncomfortable with that. IWTV fandom has several major issues re: racism. The sooner we recognize that, the better.
