I am all for anything that causes less stress and more joy in life. I don’t think we are on this planet to see how much negativity we can endure. If we work with nature, the trip is much improved, to say the least.

I’m a little envious. Here this guy is, taking his aggression out on patio furniture like a champ. He’s obviously had a shitty day, as have I, but whereas I keep my aggression pent up until it manifests in the form of passive-aggressiveness, this guy actually has an outlet.

Sometimes you just have to be patient. For a whole decade. Actually, that’s horrible advice. Be patient for a reasonable amount of time. Or simply be a fool in love.

I came back despite knowing the torture I’d have to go through because I can’t stay away from you. Even when you’re not there, you’re everywhere. In my head, in my lungs, in my fucking soul.

You want it so much you’d say yes to anything. Believe in anyone. One more favor, one more kind gesture…and maybe, just maybe, they’ll give you the love you want so desperately you’d whore yourself out for it.

New at romance? I wanted to laugh. I’d been studying romance like an academic. Like an obsessive researcher. Romance would be my Mastermind topic.

Struck me with your love and love language.

As we walk away I know they’re watching, these two men who aren’t yet permitted to touch women. They touch with their eyes instead and I move my hips a little, feeling the full red skirt sway around me. It’s like thumbing your nose from behind a fence or teasing a dog with a bone held out of reach, and I’m ashamed of myself for doing it, because none of this is the fault of these men, they’re too young.

You are so blindingly extraordinary that it physically hurts me sometimes, and I’ll never stop pushing you to believe this.

Gingerly I slide out from under her, and then I do something I’ve never done to another women—I tuck her in. Love is … not how I imagined it to be. I never anticipated these little gestures of kindness that she brings out in me. There’s something about them that disturbs me, like I’m losing a bit of my edge.
