I've added subtitles to this video posted by the duo Alosa singing the song "Si fóssim gavines". This is a valset mariner (sailor's little waltz), which is a popular music genre in the Catalan Countries usually grouped together with havaneres. I wanted to share this one because it has very sweet lyrics by the Menorcan poet Tòful Mus.

The song also has another stanza they didn't sing here, which says this:

Escolta'm, amiga, escolta'm, companya, / si fóssim gavines, gavinetes blanques / sentint sa carícia des vent quan mos toca /descansant tranquil·les damunt d'una roca.

Alosa: This date is boring!  Riden: This isn't a date. I said I was going to the store. 

Reading Daughter of the Siren Queen and chapter 16 has me in tears.

So Riden asks Wallov what is like to be a father, specifically to a DAUGHTER. Keep that in mind.

And the very next page he’s talking to Alosa about if she wants kids one day, and he mentions that he assumes she can only have DAUGHTERS because of her siren.

I want to make this an animatic/YouTube short but I don't have the motivation/skills.

Okay now yk how at the beginning, there's a little kid that goes, "Fee Fi Fo Fum, I smell the bones of an Englishman"? Imagine that kid is Roslyn. And imagine the main singer is Riden.

Now think about this:

Roslyn comes up to Riden and starts singing. And then aLL oF A suDdEn, Riden just chuckles (the little "he he he" in the background, if you listen closely) and calls the rest of the crew to start singing. And the rest of the song is basically that.
