Giving - gift-giving
He’s a gift-giver through and through. Sometimes it’s just him handing you his card, but other times little gifts will show up and you’ll just raise your eyebrow at him. Will not accept any arguments, even if you call him out on it being the third (rather expensive) thing this month. Will just blink innocently at you and pout, saying, “But I thought you’d like it!! At least open it and take a look first.” I’m sorry, he’s not returning it unless you genuinely hate it.
Receiving - words of affirmation
I think he carries a lot of weight on his shoulders and still probably feels like he should be doing more. He’ll come home from a particularly grueling day, saying that he wished he’d done better or just simply wishes he’d gotten more done, and someone needs to help him reel it back in. Tell him did great and that he shouldn’t put so much pressure on himself. And when something goes well, some really loud support goes a long way with him, even if it might make him a little shy sometimes.

Giving - acts of service
It boggles your mind sometimes at how he just anticipates things you might need. He notices that you ran out of something and it’s replaced the next day. It’s his day off and you come back to a lot of your weekly chores done. He seems to have a sixth sense for when you’re having a bad day and he’s got things ready to help you relax at home. Will not acknowledge any of this because he genuinely doesn’t put a ton of thought into doing these things in the first place.
Receiving - quality time
Just wants to be with you in your space. Don’t buy any teasing he does if you ask him to hang out. He might say, “Awe, do you miss me or something?” But he misses you more probably and he’s got his keys and is slipping on his shoes. It may seem silly to some, but it means the world to him that you think of him the moment you have some free time, because he most certainly does the same thing.
Joshua
Giving - physical touch
Now this was tough, because I have a hunch he’s kind of a master at giving all five love languages. But I think the one that would come most naturally to him is physical touch. He’s got a hand glued to you in some way every moment you’re within reach. It’s the sweet brush of some hair behind your ear, or a hand on your hip as you stand next to him, or a comforting hand on your thigh while you sit next to him. 99% of the time he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it because it’s kind of magnetic to him.
Receiving - words of affirmation
Now, he might be an expert in giving, but I don’t think he’d genuinely ask for very much in return. Still, I think about times when he might need a pep talk or he receives some hate from so-called fans. I think he’d take it particularly hard and he’ll need you to set him straight. You might have to tell him how sweet and thoughtful and handsome and insert literally any other wonderful adjective here he is, and he might be a little bit emotional about it. But it’ll comforting to know how vehemently you believe those things.

Giving & Receiving - quality time
I think he’s quality time through and through. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there are times that the other love languages come into play, but really the critical thing for him is that he can see you and spend time with you. It’s his favorite thing when you ask him to hang out or go on a date, but I’ll be real with you, he was probably already at your place if he was free. And it doesn’t even have to be a dedicated, purposeful time together. He’s perfectly happy to just coexist with you on opposite sides of the couch for the day if that’s what you want.

Giving & Receiving - physical touch
I think he’s glued to you and wants you to be glued to him too. The PDA is crazy between you two. He loves to know that he can come cling to you when he needs it, which is often. It’s reassuring to him to fold himself around you, or better yet, to curl up against you. But he wants you to be comfortable doing the same!! No matter how long you’ve been together, he’ll be overjoyed when you reach for his hand, or lean into him, or curl up into his chest. (I’m so sorry but I’m so soft thinking about this.)
Wonwoo
Giving - acts of service
Another one that just knows. The things you were dreading are just done by the time you get to them. And he insists that you just ask if you need help with something. All you have to say is ‘Wonu, can you’ and the answer is yes because he’s already up out of his seat. So nonchalant about it if you ever thank him. Another one that doesn’t think much about it. You need something so he’s doing it.
Receiving - physical touch
Now, I certainly enjoy watching him rebuff or panic at any physical touch from the members. But I think it’s something he might crave in a relationship, particularly in private. Might not always initiate that physical touch, but if you wrap your arms around him out of nowhere or kiss him randomly or open your arms for him to curl up in, he might be a little starry-eyed. It brings him a lot of comfort - so much that he might not even be all that embarrassed about this affection being around others from time to time.

Giving - quality time
I’m sure he never feels like he has enough time, so what little free time he does have is valuable and is going straight to you. He’s not terribly picky about how he spends this time. If you want to go out and do something, he’s ready. But if you want to just lie around in bed, he’s ready for that too (and might benefit greatly from this!!). Not that he wouldn’t try to give other love languages if you preferred something else on occasion, but he’s particularly inclined to this one. It’s easy - he’ll just go wherever you are.
Receiving - acts of service
I mentioned his lack of free time above, which means he might neglect certain things in an effort to get things done at work. Oh, don’t get me wrong, he’ll put up a fight, but he’s incredibly touched and sometimes a little emotional when you show up with dinner on a late night at work. Or when he comes home for a few hours to sleep, he finds that you’ve washed his laundry for him. Or that you’ll organize a really nice, relaxing day home after a really rough period of time at work. I fully believe he doesn’t know how to thank you for these little acts of kindness.

Giving - physical touch
Another one that’s glued to you. He’ll do other love languages too, but if he sees that you need some comfort, the quickest and most natural thing for him to do is to reach out to you physically. His hand is constantly linked to yours or his arm is around your shoulders when you sit next to him. And don’t forget being smothered in big, dramatic kisses, with the cherry on top being the big ‘mwah’ sound he’ll make sometimes just to make you laugh. You really never doubt that he’s into you because he never lets you breathe.
Receiving - words of affirmation
He seems like such a mood-maker, but the thing about being a mood-maker is that you always have to be ‘on’, you know? Still, you can tell if something is off if he comes home dragging with a little bit of a frown on his face. Make him talk it out and tell him how good of a job he’s doing and that it’s okay to have bad days. He needs to hear it. It will make him feel lighter. You’ll actually see his shoulders relax and the frown lift a little when you soothe him with those little words. You’re his go-to when he has a bad day. He might be everyone else’s mood-maker, but you’re his.
Mingyu
Giving - acts of service
Would prefer that you never lift a finger. Naturally, that’s not always possible because he can’t always be around to do every little thing for you. But he’s the cook of the house, as well as the repair man, and the mover when you need something heavy rearranged, and, and, and. The list goes on. Might actually get after you a little bit if you do something for yourself, not because he doesn’t want you to be independent, but because he wants you to feel taken care of. Like Wonu, all you have to do is say “Mingyu, can you” and he’s saying ‘yes’.
Receiving - physical touch
I’m sure you saw this coming. The big baby needs to be coddled. Needs excessive amounts of hugs and kisses to get through the day and is not afraid to pout if he’s denied for whatever reason. Sleeps wrapped around you or curled up on your chest. Really, genuinely does not want any space from you at any given time. I think this would make things like traveling and touring difficult for him, but he’ll learn to appreciate the other love languages when that time comes.

Giving - acts of service
Likes if you’re independent and prefer to do things for yourself, but he will absolutely not let you struggle with anything on your own. So whereas others with this love language might preemptively do things for you, he’s ‘fixing’ things for you. Could be the jar that you can’t open, which he’s simply taking and opening for you. Could be that chore that you dread every week, which is done moments after you mention it. Could be that box or load of bags that you’re trying to lug around, which he’s grabbing from you right away. If you ever put up a fight, he’ll insist that he doesn’t mind carrying the burden of those things with you.
Receiving - quality time
Wants nothing more than some lowkey quality time with you. A formal date is good, for sure. But he’s fine with anything. He’ll drag you to an art gallery or try to teach you how to paint if you aren’t very good at it. He’ll let you pick out a book for him and make some tea if you want to just sit around. If either of you feel like shopping, he’s ready to go. Doesn’t matter all that much to him as long as you’re around. You might underestimate how much he enjoys these little things, but it’s all he thinks about when he has to be away for work.

Giving & Receiving - words of affirmation
I fully believe you two can talk to each other about anything. Think of it as late night therapy sessions where you both just vent about what’s going on in your lives. The venting is good, but more than anything, it’s nice for you both to comfort each other and talk each other through said problems. There are a lot of little pep talks between you both all of the time too. These are super sweet, super open, super honest conversations that will absolutely never happen in public. That kind of makes it all the more special, really.

Giving - acts of service
I will die on this hill. He notices things, way more than he gets credit for. I think he’s quietly attentive. Not enough to ever squash your independence or anything. But if you’re cooking, he’s on autopilot putting things away for you when you’re done with them, not even breaking conversation. Or if you carry in a hamper of clean laundry to fold, he’s sitting down next to you to help you fold it. If you’re handwashing dishes, he’s next to you with a towel to dry them. These acts of services often manifest in teamwork to get something done quickly so you both can move on. He also never wants it to feel like those things are your burden alone to carry.
Receiving - quality time
This lowkey goes hand in hand with his section above. He just likes time with you. Ideally, it’s not doing chores, but he even considers that time well spent with you if those things need to get done. Naturally though, he’d prefer to do something fun. Go out, watch a movie, play a game. Doesn’t matter much. He’s even fine with just coexisting in the same room, just as long as he’s in the same room with you, he’s good.
Chan
Giving - physical touch
Love, love, loves to touch you. A hand is always on you somehow - it’s linked when you guys walk together, or it’s on your waist while standing, or your leg while sitting. Cannot help it and doesn’t even try to. He’s also peppering you with kisses constantly - your forehead or temple, your lips, your hand, it doesn’t matter. This would only be a tad more subtle than what Hoshi is like, and it might even earn him a little bit of teasing from his group members, being that he’s the maknae. He will never stop though, not even if all 12 of his hyungs have something to say about it.
Receiving - words of affirmation
I think he is so confident 99% of the time, but there might be times that he makes a mistake, or has a hard time grasping the choreography, or his voice doesn’t sound quite right. He needs someone to help keep that little perfectionist voice in his head in check. He needs to be reminded to be kind to himself and that he’s an incredible performer who puts so much effort into it. It might not click immediately, but when he finds himself in a bad thought process, he’ll try to remember what you said, or just have you repeat it.
