mostly I don't fault anyone for skirting jury duty because they truly do less than the bare minimum to compensate you for your time & transportation & circumstances and it's annoying as fuck. but it is also a big "put up or shut up" moment for your actual dedication to justice and care for your community. it's literally the government saying to you "hey come watch this trial and make sure our legal system is functioning justly and fairly."
