call you bae

Jia turned her eyes downward. Another moment that defined their relationship, that buried them deeper. They could no longer blame alcohol or vulnerability, not when she had actually tracked him down to his dressing room. Not when she was eyeing him in that suit. She looked at him in the eyes then. âDo you want to stop being around me?â
This wasnât how Danny thought things would go. Admittedly, he had been trying very hard to not think about the numerous disastrous eventualities that awaited the pair of them during this shoot. Heâd been an absolute jerk to Jia. Several times. The months following that first evening were filled with Dannyâs clumsy attempts to avoid her and not deal with the consequences of his actions. That was always something his dad nagged him about. When was he finally going to take responsibility for what he did?
It was a dangerous thought to have, looking down at Jia. For some entirely unfathomable reason, she still wanted around. Danny didnât want to hurt her anymore. Running hadnât gotten him, or them, anywhere. Somehow he always circled back to Jia.Â
âJia, I...â Danny tried to speak, but his throat had gone dry. Why did this have to be so difficult? Why couldnât he have just kept his goddamn hands to himself all those months ago? It was so much simpler then. Certainly more so than at the moment, when Jia was so close, looking like that with the two of them all alone.
âI donât,â Danny said, before his mind could really process the implications. But, it was the truth. Danny was too earnest to lie. It usually didnât even cross his mind. âI donât want to stop being around you. I.... I like.... being around you.â
The word that hung in the air were clumsy, but heartfelt. It was all very Danny.Â
Dannyâs right hand twitched. This was a bad idea. He knew it was a bad idea. It was bad for both of them. But when had something being a bad idea ever stopped him before? Danny brought up his hand and lightly, gingerly, touched Jiaâs waist. It was almost as if he was afraid heâd break her. In some ways, he was. Danny gulped. He could still back away. He could end it, if he really wanted. Same them both the trouble. The oft ignored voice in the back of his head reminded him of these things and more, but it was drowned out by the much louder voice that said what Danny always thought before he did something stupid:
Fuck it.
Danny bent down and kissed Jia. Gently at first, as if testing the waters. His other hand found its way to Jiaâs back. He shouldâve pushed her away, but instead he pulled her closer. Moon Daewon was going to handle this the way he handled every aspect of his life: with reckless abandon. Go big or go home, and Danny sure as hell was going to go big.Â
