Member claim dropped: Win on a rap survival show purchased by company

So the biggest change with Chanyeol is that he no longer had a win bought by the company on a rap survival show pre-debut. This had previously been a pretty major reason for his resentment for 99 and the downward spiral of his attitude, but since both this and his solo career were tied to member claims I had to chose between them and figured the latter would allow for more interesting interactions and character development. He still has a chip on his shoulder when it comes to 99, but this is now attributed more to general perceived mismanagement of Poizn and their treatment of him.

Major scandal change

Given that scandals play a pretty big role in Poizn’s narrative I was still keen to have at least one major one in Chanyeol’s history. Now rather than it being the above, and blowing up at a fan meet when it was mentioned, it is a particularly heated interaction with a saesang fan caught on film. Rumours of his attitude problem are also a lot more prevalent, and there’s plenty of evidence out there for people to latch on to.

Changes to solo career and new VC: Loco

His career as a solo artist is also much better established now, with two singles and a mini all promoted by the company. Of the three viable claims Loco seemed like  the best fit, offering a lot of variety in his discography as well as a less traditionally “K-pop” sound.

Attempted image rehabilitation

This is something I was kind of nudging towards and subtly hinting at before the revamp, but since he’s been playing their game and running down the clock before contracts expire Chanyeol has been relatively scandal free (By Poizn standards at least) Midas are trying to rehabilitate his image and present softer edges to the public. Still the absolute worst behind the scenes though

And now a brief introduction for those unfamiliar with this trashbag.

Comes from an extremely privileged background - parents own a successful fashion company but were never really present.

Tried to buy his affection

Struggled connecting with people because they were only interested in his money - still struggles to trust people now

Winds up in a band playing punk rock and falls in love with music.

Offered an audition aged sixteen and sails through - later discovers that his parents paid for him to be seen

Gets a slightly easier ride than his fellow trainees (again paid for by family) which breeds resentment against him

Hate / hate relationship with the company. He seriously despises them and all the decision they’ve made at this point.

Can’t shake the stigma and is seen as a fraud - attitude and outlook take a serious nosedive. decides that if they want a villain, he’ll give them a villain.

If you do right by him he’ll do right by you, but if you windup on his shit-list better get comfortable because you’re not coming back off.

Wants to be a good person - convinced that he’s fallen too deep into the character for that to be possible

All of his scandals are because of his attitude - doesn’t win him many friends

Brutally honest and will pull no punches to spare your feelings

Values authenticity and honestly above all else.

An ego the size of the moon. Will take any excuse to feed it.

Stopped caring for a long time, but now that Poizn are being dragged back into the spotlight something is waking up in him again.

Group change: Nitro > 1nferno

So it’s probably best to start with the biggest change. Since Nitro have been wiped from the site Taewoo was in need of a new home, and 1nferno seemed like the best fit. Midas tend to be more aggressive with their promotions which fits his storyline, and stylistically the inspo groups are probably the closest to those of Nitro. This means that rather than being in one of the more senior groups, he is effectively a rookie again.

Age change: 26  > 23

Because of this I also figured that it would make more sense to de-age him a little, and as such he is now three years younger. I’ve also adjusted the amount of time spent as a trainee to account for the companies stricter standards, and because realistically working multiple jobs would definitely have slowed his progress, and so he has now spent 6 years training rather than 4.

Slight image / personality change

Before the revamp Tae was very insular and prone to taking a back seat both on and off camera, and whilst I enjoyed writing him in that way, it also made plotting a little trickier. The change isn’t massive, but given his new activities outside of the group he has no choice but to be more present on screen. The way I’ve been describing it so far is a little less Got7 Mark and a little more Monsta X Shownu. When the cameras are shut off he’s still a tired, bumbling idiot with no social skills and very much living in a bubble, but that bubble has now been expanded quite considerably.

Focus on CF modelling

Outside of the group Tae is now known as a prolific CF model after a clip went viral and sales of the product shot through the roof. He has a wide ranging portfolio and is pretty in demand. Sometimes feels a little icky about it, but it’s also probably the quickest way to get his trainee debt cleared and start being the breadwinner for his family again.

Vocalist > Rapper

Perhaps not the most important change, but Tae is now a rapper rather than a singer. His main focus is still squarely on dance, and that’s probably what he’s best known for, but I’m mentioning because I know some plots that I was discussing with people relied on his vocal talents.

And now a brief introduction for those not familiar with this mess of a man!

Lee Taewoo - born Feb 24th, the eldest of three kids

Started out with all the charisma of a damp rag - Vastly improved over the years but still socially inept

Didn’t really have friends as a kid, and still doesn’t have a very wide circle

Despite this he has a compulsive need to seek validation and others approval, and honestly just wants people to like him - will agree to anything with little convincing

Works himself too hard and doesn’t know when to stop

Relaxation? What is that? Taewoo knows only work.

Dating? What is that? Taewoo knows only work.

Fun? What is that? Taewoo knows only - you get it.

The signs of exhaustion are starting to show but he just shrugs them off and refuses to accept them.

Terrified of everything falling apart and not being able to provide for his family if he slows down

Live is a state of perpetual fear of disbandment or being removed from the lineup

Often feels inferior to his peers - not something that he would ever vocalize

A doormat in every possible way - others can walk all over him with ease

Painfully optimistic and positive - rarely seen with anything other than a smile (Unless alone or behind closed doors)

Comes from a seriously disadvantaged background and had to claw his way to the top

They were effectively destitute at one point. Went without food, power,etc.

Started out as a street performer - Taught himself how to dance before sneaking into classes and eventually paying for his own lessons

Worked multiple part time jobs during his training years to support his family

Spent six years as a trainee, decidedly average, and burnt out a month before his debut date.

The second he starts getting paid every cent will be funnelled back to his family.

Knows how to speak three languages and plans to learn more.

A full 164cm tall aka a literal gnome. Will swear that he’s 172cm until his dying breath. Even then will only admit to being 168cm

Values 1nferno above anything else, and will do whatever is necessary to keep things running smoothly

Doesn’t really know what he’s doing. Barely holding himself together, but trying his best.

Born to a Puerto Rican/German father and a Korean mother in Los Angeles. Has three older sisters. She is the weird one.

Moved to Korea when she was twelve after her grandfather developed cancer. Big culture shock for her.

Was a child actor and continued acting when she moved to Korea. It helped drastically improve her Korean.

Speaks Spanish, English, Korean, and German. 

Koala.T is intent on marketing her as an actor, but they don’t really let her show her range. 

She is a big fan manga and anime, but kind of has to keep her love of horror on the dl now.

Has been around for even less than before, so she is FRESH on the scene.

A bundle of fluff. Very shy, very quiet, has a reserved idol image. Good little Catholic girl.

Will read your tarot if asked. Not that she believes in that nonsense.

she really just wants to be successful to prove that she can and that she deserves it

Born in Hong Kong, moved to Korea when he was four, identifies as such culturally at this point.

Chinese father, Thai mother.

Father owns a large business conglomerate, which he was disowned from after becoming a trainee.

His parents are divorced and hate each other.

Does not have a good relationship with his dad at the moment, but gets along with his stepfamily fine. His mom is a bit in the middle.

Both families are rich as hell and he is very much a snobby baby.

Smart af and a model.

Very big on fitness. Is also known for being practical and pragmatic.

Commonly known as “Father Wei” because he’s the voice of reason in B.rite.

That’s the big difference really, he is now the lead vocal, lead dance of B.rite instead of the main vocal in 1nferno

Kind of a snake and secretly believes no one will ever love him for him, but it’s chill
