breaking down.
at the hotel the night before kbs showtime. with @idsieun
jinhwan ran his hands through his hair for probably the fiftieth time the past hour just so he could have something to do with them. their manager had told them to rest tonight, try and get rid of some of the jetlag, donât strain your hands and voices. but jinhwanâs guitar sat in the corner taunting him, the source of the voices circling the back of his head. what if you mess up? they said. are you sure you can still do the riffs in shoot me? can you hit the high notes while playing and still look cool? this is a big opportunity, jinhwan.
it wasn't that he doubted his guitar skills. he was good. he knew he was good, knew he was arguably the better of the two in xlnc. but jinhwan didnât just want to be goodâ he wanted to be perfect. he wanted to walk off that stage without a single regret, wanted to know that there was no way he could have done any better because it was already perfect. this was a huge opportunity for him, for the rest of xlnc. it was a new country, one hopefully without such strict ideas as to what an idol group should be like. they could get some fans here, maybe, help xlnc out. but it could only happen if they were perfect.
âfuck,â jinhwan choked out, standing up abruptly from where he was sitting on the edge of the hotel bed. the other members were in the room with him, probably trying their best to ignore the anxiety that was pouring off of him in waves, but jinhwan didnât care what they were thinking as he scrambled to where his phone was plugged in across the room. he opened his messages immediately, fingers flying across the screen as he messaged one of the few people he trusted when he was in this sort of state.
noona, jinhwan wrote, hit send too early because his hands were shaking so much. sieun-noona, did your flight land? pause. what room are you in? i need to talk to someone.
he waited until sieun gave him the go ahead to leave the room, hurrying out with his phone, a hat and mask just in case, and a half-assed goodbye to his band mates. he didnât care much for explaining where he was going to them; besides, they had to be used to jinhwanâs sudden disappearances by now. thankfully, him and sieun were in the same hotel, so it was just a short elevator ride for him to reach her, gripping his phone tightly as he knocked on sieunâs door.
