prongs is going on and on about how lily is finally going to kiss him tonight

but no one's here to kiss me either

But that wouldn't change anything about your lack of a midnight kiss.

Sirius could feel his heart pound against his ribcage as he read those four little words on the screen of his phone. It was the closest he ever was to reveal his feelings to Remus. A leap of faith. A shot in the dark. And fortunately, it was also the closest Remus ever was to reciprocate.

So, that night, when midnight struck and cheers erupted, when Lily attached her lips to a red-faced James, Sirius escaped onto the balcony, just to see the sky. Just to see the moon. Just to silently send his midnight kiss to the bright white orb.

Unbeknownst to him, Remus, in Wales, was doing the same to the brightest star in the night sky.

Remus: sorry for the late update i had a bit of a rough weekend. woke up with scratches all over my chest and three broken ribs (long story, don’t ask) and then my dog (well, my roommate who acts like a dog) literally ate my first draft. and then he bit me. anyway here’s 10k words of angst to make up for it <3
