chronic pain lesbians
outfit that says "you can't tell me what to do" and body language that screams "god please Mistress tell me what to do"
there's a special kind of glee derived from referring to your pet's collar as their clothes
Me, searching the house for the dog's collars, so they can go to doggy daycare: WHERE ARE YOUR PANTS? YOU CAN'T GO TO SCHOOL WITHOUT PANTS.
Taking the collar off for any reason: Ooooh, you're nakey now!
This also goes the other direction that taking off my collar makes me feel nakey and any time I forget it and realise I gasp and clutch my throat like I've walked out of the house in my underwear
on the one tentacle, as a clothing fetishist id really rather you left all of it on. on the second tentacle, as a skin fetishist I would really like to touch you down there so maybe you can leave it on but I'll grope you beneath it. on the third tentacle, as a dress up fetishist I'm actually okay with you taking the clothes off as long as you're then putting things on that I tell you to put on. on the fourth tentacle, as an embarrassment fetishist I'm really just inclined towards whatever makes you most uncomfortable which does give some value to the naked body. and the rest of my tentacles are just gonna stick to touching you unless I think of more things to consider.

The other problem is that I was friends with enough people in college who went on to be hacktivists that my knee-jerk reaction to anybody trying to impose restrictions on distributing software (or information of any kind) is to start yelling "INFORMATION WANTS TO BE FREE" and "FREE AS IN FREEDOM" and I'm aware that this is not universally 100% always the best idea. However.
"Fable 5 is too dangerous to release without guardrails" okay but have you considered that Zero Cool crashed fifteen hundred and seven computers in one day, biggest crash in history, front page New York Times, August 10th, 1988?
the only way to stop a bad guy with a basilisk is a good guy with a basilisk
“Why don’t you use ai” idk man beyond the obvious environmental and “this machine causes psychosis and encourages people to kill themselves” thing I think asking the equivalent of a solid D student who is also a pathological liar if they can answer my question/do the work for me seems pretty fucking stupid
How people get nicknames:
Recipient of a third-degree burn in front of witnesses. IE, "I won't take that shit from a man dressed like a ghostbuster"= "Gostbuster" or "Buster"
A distinctive personal feature or quirk. IE, "Have you noticed how that new guy is always eating bell peppers?" = "Peppers", or "That chick has a massive forehead" = "Forehead".
An embarrassing thing you said or did. IE, "Did you seriously call Dale "Dad"?" = "Junior", "Baby boy", "Sport"
A game of name-mutation telephone. IE, "Donny Clyde" = "Bonnie 'n' Clyde" = "Bonnie" = "Bon-bon".
Irony. IE, calling a tall person "short stack" or a particularly dour person "sunshine".
A 'wrong place wrong time' one-off incident. IE, "He spilled oil on his pants and had to borrow a pair that were way too big and Jim saw him with the waistband pulled up to his nipples and called him 'Parachute'"
A batman-style origin story but not in a cool way: "One time she hit a deer with the company car and when she called the boss to tell her she was crying so hard we thought she was dying" = "Bambi"
The incredibly rare 'admiration' nickname, bourne only once a millennia under the light of the blood moon: "We saw him lift a truck once so now we call him 'iron man'"
+ How Nicknames Stick:
Your fate is determined by The Counsel
You hate it
It's accurate
dont store a knife with the point facing down, it damages the blade. no, dont do that either. when you store it with the point facing up you might accidentally hurt yourself when you try to grab it. dont store a knife at all actually. your blade must never leave your hand, always ready, ruthless and waiting. you know deep down that ever since you learned the stench of blood you will never be able to cast it aside. or just get a sheath for it i guess.

Every now and again I’ll see a post that’s like My autism gives me a special innate ability to instantly detect narcissists and anyone who questions this super special ability and its legitimacy is obviously My Enemy (narcissists) trying to tear me down or just doesn’t understand because they don’t have this special ability like me, only people like me could ever understand.
like wow that sounds extremely similar to another certain diagnosis…
I know the implicaiton is that the diagnosis is narcissism but this really doesn't sound like npd. It does however sound like autism
Autistic people have black and white thinking and this thing called "justice sensitivity" where they get really upset if something they percieve as (KEY WORD PERCIEVE) wrong goes unpunished. Autistic people are also more commonly victims of peer abuse. Calling yourself an "empath" and doing whats described in the post seems like a coping mechanism in which the autist is trying to protect themself from people who potentially risk them harm. Also thinking you have a secret special ability is a common product of very low sef esteem and autistic people more commonly have low self esteem
yikes 😬 this is literally a textbook npd symptom
while symptoms can overlap between disorders autistic people don't have the same grandiosity seen in npd (which is what this is, not black-and-white thinking). also, "justice sensitivity" is not real, it's just a really weird way to say rigid and black-and-white thinking
The problem is that if you approach the question from any reasonable angle, humans don't have free will either. But I try not to let that bother me lol
Most of the time, all this means is that someone is using a bad definition of free will.
Genuinely curious what do you think is a good definition of free will? I have not read much philosophy but I keep seeing people try to invoke quantum mechanics and that's very obviously nonsense...
I'd say it's one of those concepts best explained by Engels - sufficient quantity (or complexity) giving rise to a new quality. A part of it is, I think, a system with free will is one that we can't predict the states of, since it's of the same order of complexity as our own minds.
suffiicient quantity (or complexity) giving rise to a new quality
Well that's just biochemistry, that would assign free will to to any sufficiently dense collection of biomass and sunlight
A part of it is, I think, a system with free will is one that we can't predict the states of, since it's of the same order of complexity as our own minds.
Now you're assigning free will to like, turbulence in fluid dynamics, or multi-body gravitational systems. Except when you talk about "predicting states" you're using the language of quantum mechanics to talk about philosophy and now it's an uphill battle for me to take any of this seriously unless you're a physics PhD.
And also, all these attempts at defining free will just seem like people deciding what has free will (humans, usually, or primates, or maybe dolphins) and then trying to come up with a box to put that decision in. And then a couple centuries go by and science advances and now there are so many counterexamples that the box falls apart.
Maybe eventually we'll learn enough that we finally figure out the dimensions of the actual true box, but I doubt we'll get there this century...
I remember when I was younger, anytime I watched a movie where the characters have to kill a scary monster/alien, I always thought the act of killing it was intended to be part of the horror. Like there’s this amazing creature that we’ve never seen before, and maybe under different circumstances we could’ve coexisted with it, but it’s trying to attack you and you have to defend yourself, but by destroying it you also destroy the ability to ever understand it and that’s sad and is supposed to make you feel conflicted.
It was not until well into my adulthood that I realized most people do not have complicated feelings about movies where people have to kill a scary alien monster, nor is that necessarily meant to be part of the narrative (unless it very obviously is). They just want the scary thing to die because it’s scary. I don’t have a real conclusion to this I just started thinking about it for some reason.
1. This reply is two words and they managed to misspell both of then
2. Yeah. Duh.
