I really think everyone needs to truly internalize this:
Fictional characters are objects.
They are not people. You cannot "objectify" them, because they have no personhood to be deprived of. They have no humanity to be erased. You cannot "disrespect" them, because they are not real.
I know this has good intentions, so I will just add the "how you treat them, even as objects of fiction, can speak about your own character, be careful out there"
Your addition is actually completely antithetical to my message. It is literally the opposite of what I am conveying.
Stop telling people to encourage the cop inside their head.
How you treat fictional characters, given they are entirely objects of fiction, does NOT necessarily speak to your own character, and you do not need to be "careful".
It is not dangerous to imagine dark things happening to fictional characters. It does not mean you are secretly a bad person. It does not mean you unconsciously want to hurt people in real life. It is not a "slippery slope" to doing bad things to people in real life. You cannot damage your brain or turn yourself into a bad person by consuming "dark" fanfic.
I can write tentacle noncon of my favorite character all day long and be a fierce anti-sexual assault advocate in real life because what I do in my head is not the same thing as what I do in real life.
These tags were too perfect to not include
In case y'all need pictures sorry it aint in crayon 🖍️-
How Tim looks like to me
This is literally so perfect. Exactly how I think of him—a the BatBoys are incredibly attractive, but Tim—Tim is so fucking pretty. Girls either want him or are jealous of him and boys are either jealous of him or are questioning their heterosexuality because of him. It really just depends on the time of day and which way the wind blows.
The Letter He Never Wanted to Write
Jason Todd x Reader
You find it tucked under your apartment door. No knock. No text. No warning. Just an envelope with your name on it, written in messy, familiar handwriting you’d recognize anywhere. Your hands tremble before you even open it. Because Jason never writes letters. Jason barely even texts. Jason just shows up. But not today.
You close the door behind you, locking it automatically, like the click might keep whatever this is from hurting you. Your fingers hover over the envelope, tracing the sharp slant of the letters.
He pressed hard when he wrote it. He always does that when he’s upset. You swallow and open it.
Sweetheart,
If you’re reading this, it means I didn’t have the guts to say it to your face. You deserve that much, at least. More than this. More than me.
There’s a faint smudge near the edge of the ink. You brush your thumb over it, wondering if it was rain. Or blood. Or his hand hesitating.
I need you to listen carefully, okay? And I need you to hate me if that’s what it takes.
Your chest tightens. No. No, you don’t like this.
You can’t see me anymore.
The words blur instantly. You blink hard, forcing yourself to keep reading.
This isn’t because you did anything wrong. You didn’t. You never do. That’s part of the problem.
Your throat burns.
You’re good. You’re soft. You still smile at strangers and feed stray cats and apologize when someone else bumps into you. You still believe the world can be kind. And I don’t get to ruin that.
Your hands shake so badly the paper rustles. You remember the way he’d watch you when you laughed, like he couldn’t understand how someone like you existed. Like you were something fragile he didn’t deserve to touch.
He knows about you.
Your breath stops. You don’t need him to say the name. You already know.
The Joker.
The word feels like ice in your veins.
He didn’t say your name. Not yet. But he knows you exist. He knows there’s someone I go back to. Someone I protect. Someone I love.
The tears fall before you can stop them. He never said it before. Not out loud. Not directly. Only in the way he held you like you might disappear. Only in the way he stayed until you fell asleep. Only in the way he always came back.
And that means you’re a target now.
Your heart pounds painfully.
I can’t let that happen. I won’t let that happen.
The next line looks messier. Less controlled.
I’ve died once. I won’t survive watching it happen to you.
A sob escapes your throat, quiet and broken.
You don’t belong in my world. You never did. You belong in sunlight. In bookstores. In quiet mornings and soft things. Not in blood. Not in fear. Not with me.
Your fingers clutch the letter desperately.
So this is me ending it. I need you to forget me. Move on. Find someone normal. Someone who won’t come home at 3 a.m. covered in bruises and pretend it’s nothing. Someone who doesn’t bring monsters to your door just by loving you.
The paper wrinkles under your grip.
You’re too fragile. And I’m too good at breaking things.
Your tears drip onto the ink, smearing the words.
This is the only way I know how to keep you safe. If he thinks you don’t matter to me… He won’t touch you.
Your heart shatters quietly.
I’m sorry. For every moment I let myself pretend I could have this. Pretend I could have you. You made me feel human again. That was my first mistake.
Goodbye, sweetheart.
— Jason
The silence in your apartment is unbearable. He’s gone. No footsteps on your fire escape. No shadow outside your window. No quiet presence leaning against your doorway like he belongs there. Just emptiness. And the letter. You sink onto the floor, clutching it to your chest like it might bring him back. He thinks you’re fragile. He thinks you’ll break. He thinks pushing you away will save you. But he doesn’t understand. He already ruined you. Because now you know what it feels like to be loved by him. And nothing will ever compare to that.
Outside, somewhere in the darkness, Jason stands on a rooftop across the street. Watching your window. Making sure you’re safe. Even if you never know he’s there. Even if he has to break his own heart to do it.

small thing I'd like to add here is that there is no bad fic as long as it's done with love <3
AU where both of Terry's parents are murdered when he's younger so that Project Batman Beyond could orchestrate the exact trauma that created Batman (only problem is the attack happened when Terry was at a sleepover so he didn't witness it) but they don't expect old ass Bruce Wayne to unretire from adopting kids (little does his ass fucking know) and goes out of his reclusive hidey hole to announce he's taking in little Terry McGinnis (Bruce is still in his early mid 60s and Terry is idk it doesn't matter)
And none of his kids know at first. They don't call him anymore. They have their own lives and most of them are still mad at him. He pissed Damian off so much that not even he wants the mantle of Batman or "blood son" (they all probably fell out at Alfred's funeral and that was the last time any of them spoke)
Until years later when Terry is like 10 and opens the door after Damian unexpectedly drops by after years upon years of radio silence and Terry says "Pops is watching his stories and doesn't like to be disturbed. Don't make me turn the dog loose." like he's been trained to do every time someone has the misfortune of gracing Bruce's doorstep and slams the door in the face of THE Damian Wayne.
Which leads to Damian speed dialing Dick (he kept that number, everyone keeps Dick's number) and yells over the phone "FATHER HAS A NEW BABY AND THAT LITTLE SHIT WONT LET ME INTO THE HOUSE !"
And for the first time in a long time, everyone stops being mad at Bruce for three seconds because they want to see the "new baby" and they start dropping in one by one, some of them prepared to cuss him out because "How dare you train another child soldier, aren't you tired of this ?" until they realize that Terry doesn't even know what Batman is and one of them slips up and gets Terry curious.
And guess who now has a fresh new baby brother to train in the ways of vigilantism, because Bruce was more than content to just keep Terry in the living room with him watching Days of Our Lives on plastic covered furniture ? Because Bruce isn't doing it. His hip is so bad that he can't even spar with a 10 year old like he used to.
But he has about 7 or 8 (depending how you count because I know how you girls like to tussle) kids who are more than capable of doing it.
The last time I drew him was two months ago 🥀

Bleeding Red - Chapter 1
Pairing: Jason Todd/Red Hood x Reader
Summary: When the infamous Red Hood saves your life, you come to the fast conclusion that Gotham’s most dangerous vigilante is an absolute prick. And yet, much to your confusion, he keeps showing up.
Meanwhile, Jason Todd can’t tell if you’re brave, foolish, absolutely insane, or all three. All he knows is that he can’t get you out of his head. When a chance encounter has you meeting him without the mask, however, he finds it impossible to stay away from you - both as himself and as his crime-fighting alter-ego.
Warnings: 18+ Minors DNI; Swearing, Violence, Light stalking (not in a threatening way), Bickering, So much bickering (but it’s cute), Jason is awkward and bad at having a crush, Fluff, Please let me know if I forgot anything!
Author's Note: First Jason Todd fic! And oh BOY did I love writing this one. The banter between these two idiots had me giggling and kicking my feet the whole darn time. I hope you guys love it as much as I do! As usual, please let me know what you think! Your feedback gives me strength!
-
It starts with a mugging.
Well, actually, it starts with an ill-advised feat of attempted heroism.
Maybe it’s the lack of sleep. The long, agonizing work day. The way your boss came at you about misfiled paperwork in a way that had you gritting your teeth and doing your best to keep from storming out the door.
Your apartment is less than two blocks away. You’ll be there in five minutes. You’ll march up the outside stairs, do your best to keep from falling over the damn railing into the alley below from exhaustion, shove the heavy door open, and collapse into bed.
And then you hear it. The sob of fear. The angry voice. Something that sounds like a knife being unsheathed.
This is Gotham. Those sounds aren’t unusual.
And yet, as if of their own accord, your feet stop moving.

Fanfic authors: READ THE WHOLE FUCKING PAGE
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT AND VALUABLE LESSONS YOU CAN LEARN AS A WRITER. I SAY THIS AS A READER AND A PROFESSIONAL GENRE EDITOR.
──jason todd except im annoyed at the fandom (im fairly new but i had to open my big mouth).
──I fear jason is neither a shadow daddy (ew) or a soft boy. he’s lowk just an introvert with an attitude and an alter ego.
──firm believer that RED HOOD is a despicable dirty awful flirt (canonically calls his love interests princess mind you) and JASON is a little awkward like he can still do it for sure it’s just clumsier.
──he was NOT revolutionised by becoming robin. it gave him a chance at life someone as good as him deserved, yes, but he wasn’t immoral and I don’t like the image being portrayed that he was a ‘street thug’. I fear he was an 11 year old on the street, providing and fighting for his life. any other depictions of his experience REEK of classism and I don’t love it.
──jason is REALLY competent. the writers just hate him. he’s known to be a very instincts based fighter while being a complete all rounder (book smart, street smart, socially smart when it comes to manipulation) and a tactician. he thinks FAST and is resourceful because of his childhood on the streets.
──I will happily disregard certain elements of canon. in everything I write for him he will still be using guns idc idc idc idc and will be snarking criminals because he’s SO funny.
──he’s the embodiment of Gotham more than any other batfamily member bar Bruce, and I stand by that. he’s lived through the two polarising sides and stays within the city despite what it’s done to him. he stays fighting to protect it in whatever ways he deems necessary. prince of Gotham for a reason.
──jason and dick have the most interesting sibling dynamic in the batfamily I do not fear.
──jason is a literature snob who speaks ganglish and I love that. get you a man who can do both.

people don't talk enough about how fucking funny it is that bruce can sub in his kids as batman when he's too busy. like can you imagine it from the league's perspective? imagine you have this really mysterious, geniusly scary guy that you know next to nothing about, never cracks a smile and yet always comes out on top, and one day he shows up to a league meeting and there's just something... off. about him.
you can't pin it down because he's literally acting exactly the same as usual and there's no reason to think there's anything wrong, but maybe he shifted in his seat one to many times, or he looked just a tad bit too bored during green lantern's case review, but something's just... odd. so you quietly ask superman after the meeting if anything's up with the bat bcs you know those two are closer and also clark can hear heartbeats so if something's wrong surely he'll pick it up? and without hesitation he leans over to you and mumbles 'yeah batman was busy, that's his 17 yr old son. he's a crime lord and kills people sometimes though so we're not allowed to let him into the weapons department.' and then walks away like it's normal.
like the whiplash the league must go through every time they realise that no, this is not their fearless dark and brooding leader, this is in fact one of his dipshit kids being forced to sub in bcs the real batman broke an ankle, is incredible.
wonder woman: so that's my proposed plan, what are your thoughts batman?
batman: hn. i think that- *voice raising two octaves* oh shit hold on my phones buzzing
the league:
batman, answering the phone and immediately dropping the Bat Posture™: what do you mean- aw come on little wing that's not fair! but- no, NO DON'T YOU DARE TELL ALFRED I'LL BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOU- IM SORRY OK I'LL BUY YOU MORE- *catches sight of the league watching him, baffled* *stiffens* ok listen i promise to replace them but i gotta go, please show me mercy iloveyoubye *hangs up*
the league:
batman:
batman: *coughs awkwardly*
superman: *sighs*
batman, to superman: ...red hood found out i ate his chocolate pretzels-
superman, shaking his head: just... just stop.
the flash: so this isn't batman either, is it?
wonder woman: if this one's also a criminal im losing my mind.
superman, tiredly: no no, this one isn't a criminal. this one's actually a cop.
batman: *sinks down in his seat* b's gonna kill me
green lantern, mystified: where does he keep GETTING you all from!?
'batman' dick, who made a pact with jason to Always Fuck With Bruce Whenever The Opportunity Arises: batman is a whore.
they think they've finally sussed out all 2 of batman's kids and then one day during a meeting 'batman' ends up on a 30 minute rant about different hacking methods this tech villain could be using that results in him half way through a sentence breaking off to say '-oh uncle clark could you pass me that pen- thanks, anyway so-' and then five minutes after that when the league have all been exchanging incredulous looks he finally freezes and is like. SHIT.
wonder woman: you're different from the other two, aren't you?
batman: maybe i am maybe i'm not, you can't prove it.
wonder woman:
green lantern: so like, are you new or have you just managed to avoid sub duty up until now?
superman, coughing: actually, this is this ones ninth occasion of replacing batman. you've just never realised before.
the league:
batman: yeah actually the other two are kinda mad i lasted longer than them...
the flash: how the fuck does he keep getting kids with the exact same build as him!??!?
'batman' tim, spent 20 minutes padding the suit out so he would look the part, still mad that bruce keeps palming WE work off on him: oh he forces us to take steroids for it.
the league, concerned:
superman, pinching the bridge of his nose: now come on red robin-
batman, fully tearing up and looking distraught: PLEASE uncle clark, it HURTS, you can't keep COVERING FOR HIM!
superman, frantically to the league: this one lies.
bonus
the league, squinting at batman:
the league: ...
superman: *head in his hands, too disappointed to do anything*
the league: *silently exchanging looks, wondering if anybody's brave enough to say anything*
duke as batman, fully aware this is fucking stupid but jason and tim fell on the floor laughing when dick came up with the idea and frankly, he wanted to see if anybody would have to guts to call him out: so, are we all ready to start the meeting?
Its also super funny if you consider
Batman, dressed up as Cass: Tis I. Batgirl.
Some poor criminal: I’ll get killed by Gotham twitter if I say what I want to, so I just won’t.
Batman: Wise choice.
I am actually so serious I think it really messes with a childs creativity and joy to tell them to never make a mary sue OC. Like that unbridaled form of joy where you make a self insert OC who super cool and everyone loves them and they have every superpower in the world SHOULD be something a kid makes, it nourishes their ability to create things for fun and not be stifled by "oh but what if my character is too overpowered and cringey...". whatever
You know what?
I'm gonna add to this.
It stifles adult's creativity too.
Don't put restrictions on people's creativity.
That Mary-Sue OC you made as a child? That's a template for a well rounded character. Develop that shit. Flesh them out. Make them even better. Figure out what superpowers they really need and what ones are just extra. Let the character grow with you.
But you won't have that template to work off of if you were told not to make it.
Also, let people have power fantasies. Let that bullied isolated kid have an OC who's super powerful and surrounded by friends.
Let people tell stories, for fuck's sake.
