Despite being the textile district, District 8 don't seem to use fabrics or fibres themselves for their names.
Bobbin is weaving equipment. Woof, Wefton (weft), and Twill are parts of/types of fabric construction. Wovey is just 'weave'. Notion and Ripman are both more related to the finishing stages of production, notions being buttons, ribbons, hasps etc., and Ripman presumably meaning 'guy responsible for rips' either in tailoring or mending. Cecelia, Bonnie, and Eddy (unless short for heddle, weaving equipment) are regular non-vocational names. Alawna is the only name that could be a fabric; lawn is a type of fabric, but it also describes the nap of that fabric so could equally be a construction word like twill.
Coincidence? Or would names like Cotton, Satin, Jute, and Cashmere be outside of their cultural conventions? (District 1 has three fabric names for the record.)
District 1 and 11 have gendered trends in their vocational names, which the other vocational name districts don't as far as I can tell. (Also theyre the two districts out of those that pun on real names the least.)
In D1 all the fancy fabric names are designated as girls names: Velvereen (velveteen), Silka (silk), and Cashmere. And the abstract concept names are primarily boys names: Panache, Marvel, and Gloss, and then just Glimmer. The jewellery making names are an even split: Facet and Loupe, and Carat and Palladium.
For D11 the plant names are all (or almost all) girls names: Dill, Chicory, Blossom, and Rue. And the grain farming names are all boys names: Reaper, Hull, Thresh, and Chaff. The more generic agricultural jobs seem gender neutral: Seeder and Tile (if its a form of till, idk what else it could be). That only leaves Martin (from Rues darkglasses anecdote) which could be a type of apple and thus the only boys name in the plant category, or it could be a bird or the real world boys name and not fit any pattern.
Alcohol laws in District 12
White liquor is explicitly illegal to brew and sell in Sunrise and the Trilogy (SOTR ebook p.11, CF p.220 etc). In Ballad it's a lot less clear, Snow never calls it illegal and never worries he's breaking the law by buying it, however he does once imply that its a black market item (TBOSAS p.408), but that may be about illegal trading not illegal wares since shoelaces and soap are on the list too. Someone is always brewing it though, legal or not.
For weaker drinks, the most notable is the beer that's sold in the Capitol store fully legally (SOTR ebook p.282). Also, D12 nicknaming it 'near beer' and recognising it as particularly 'thin, weak, and feeble' implies they know other beer to compare it to. Haymitch also is familiar with wine and wine bottles (SOTR ebook p.331), but not champagne (SOTR ebook p.47) or spirits other than white liquor, like vodka or cognac (SOTR ebook p.176-7). Katniss describes wine that's 'home-made stuff that [her] mother uses for coughs' (THG p.92-3), so, there definitely is some brewing of weak alcohol going on in D12. No indication whether it's legal or not.
Asterid buys bootlegged liquor for medicine while working for her parents so clearly the law is not the most important thing to her (SOTR ebook p.28). Some alcohol is legal for medicinal purposes though, since rubbing alcohol (not drinkable) is stocked by the apothecary in Catching Fire and no one is worried about it during the crackdown (CF p.156).
Possibilities: 1) All brewing is illegal (it happens anyway) and only imports are allowed, like near beer and rubbing alcohol. Possibly there are even other imports like wine that are just too expensive for the Seam. Commander Hoff gets imported whiskey in Ballad, but he isnt a district civilian (TBOSAS p.476). 2) Strong alcohol for consumption is illegal, but brewing weaker stuff is fine. Wine and beer would be legal to make, maybe stronger medicinal alcohol could even be made too, since its not for drinking. People in D12 are always after white liquor specifically when they're trying to get drunk drunk, so a law distinguishing weaker drinks as not a problem isn't counterintuitive. 3) There may be change over time, especially if white liquor is legal during Ballad. Plus, the Capitol store doesn't exist the whole time, so either beer is only legal to buy in its era, or some merchant or something gets to import/brew and distribute beer etc at other times. Maybe there's an alcohol license situation who knows.

Call me crazy, but I can't be the only one that thinks that the main reason that Clerk Carmine in Sunrise on the Reaping doesn't like Haymitch is that he reminds him too much of his dead brother Billy Taupe?? "The Abernathys were known rebels back in the day" and "He [Clerk Carmine] once told Lenore Dove that I was the kind that died young." Billy Taupe was running around with the District 12 rebels in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, some of which included members of the Chance family, like Arlo Chance who inspired the Hanging Tree song. While the Chance family are still going strong by Sunrise on the Reaping, maybe Clerk Carmine remembers his brother hanging out with some Abernathys back in the day. Also Billy Taupe doesn't get a headstone in the Covey graveyard but Clerk Carmine still taught Lenore Dove how to play Billy's old piano accordion... Much to think about.

What D10 names mean for their industry:
Brandy - they brand cattle meaning theres a need to specify different ownership. i assume the Capitol would technically own all the cattle (a la D12 coal, D11 crops), but there must be some contractual responsibility/ownership given to individuals/families/groups rather than all the work being done under one company
Tanner/Peeler/Stamp(?) - leatherwork names, Peeler is the first step, and Tanner is the last if youre processing hide into raw leather so they do all that. Stamp is ambiguous, could also be an animal stamping its foot (cf. Buck), but a stamp for leatherwork would be interesting because that would mean they make things out of leather in D10 rather than sending all the raw leather to D8 or wherever
Lannie - they keep sheep obviously, but also they process wool themselves to some extent if lanolin is relevant enough to their vocation for a name, they don't just shear sheep and send the fleece straight to D8. (D8 have no specific leatherwork or woolwork/ wool fabric names for the record, but we know they make the whole peacekeeper outfits boots and fur cloak included so must get various materials in from D10).
Buck - this has like 20 relevant meanings. could be the action of an animal (which would probably imply they ride horses). could be the male of various animals, goat (archaic word), rabbit, deer (implying they keep deer domestically) etc.
Useful to my need for encyclopedic worldbuilding that you can kinda tell some of the specifics of what other districts do by their names. Like Sol means D5 do solar power, Hy and Hychel (Hy + regular name Mychel?) probably mean hydroelectric power, and Fisser ('guy who does fission') i think has to mean atomic power (the Capitol definitely aren't giving another district nuclear weapons facilities after D13 but I guess they need nuclear power enough to let that happen, probably very controlled).

Lenore Dove!!
Obviously the book interpretation is entirely up to the reader, but I like to think that Lucy Gray's grave is empty. Not because she isn't dead. Not because she lives either. But because the whole point of her character after Snow finally cracks is to haunt the narrative, and the most interesting, compelling way she can do that is both for him and for us to never truly know what happens to her afterwards. She's Schrödinger's cat. She's a ghost that lives every time someone replaces the Capitol silence with music. We don't even know if the Covey ever found her. The only thing I choose to believe, whether they did or not, is that that grave is empty.
Lucy Gray doesn't belong in the ground. She is the air, the trees, a whisper behind your ear. She is insanity for the cruel and strength for the defiant. She is hope; not a grain of it, not in small doses, not the tool Coriolanus means it to be. He tried to squash it, but Lucy Gray became intangible. Like a song, she escaped his control, and she became infinite.
