Campaign 4 Speculation
Everyone is doing it so might as well!
Two things before we start, there's always the homebrew factor, that's even more probable with Jeremy and Chris over there. There also could be some agreement with Wizards to let them use stuff early, we don't know yet. Also a lot of this is not committal since I'm not sure about a lot of them! Just sharing some thoughts
First, Teor Pridesire. Lots of folks are going for monk due to the bandages, but monks don't have proficiency in armor (which could be an artistic license) nor shields, which would leave him without 4 class features (Martial Arts, Unarmored Defense, Unarmored Movement and Acrobatic Movement) so unless it's a homebrew subclass, I don't see it. I see a paladin, with the interesting idea that tempts me to say that this is a claw-and-punch brawler, smiting with them while wielding a shield! Also having the shield optional to wield or not is part of the Unarmed Fighting Fighting Style "If you aren’t holding any weapons or a Shield when you make the attack roll, the d6 becomes a d8."
Anyways, amazing design, super excited for this character, love the design, the knots on the breastplate, the rings, the lion head he has on his hand.
I didn't know much of Alexander Ward since I bounced off the VtM content I've seen him in sadly. But Crokas rocked my world so I'm excited to see what he brings now. Occtis looks like two subclasses, both of them in UA now. He clearly has some medicine/anatomical skillset going on (syringe and that book) and I don't see armor, so I'm down to call this a Wizard of some kind, maybe a Necromancer due to all the emojis and aesthetic, but I feel, I want to believe, this is a Reanimator Artificer. Those fox creatures could be their homunculus and while yeah you could go alchemist, I really want him to be full Frankenstein Reanimator. Really excited, this is my vibe, dark academia taken a bit too far.
Sam always surprises me, and this not being as a weird combination of stuff is surprising me yet again. This feels like a Divine Soul sorcerer, with the strange hair, the sun symbology that we will continue seeing in other characters. Honestly I don't have much to go on yet, I'm intrigued, Sam, really intrigued.
Murray! A dwarf, yes! Always excited for more dwarf representation. This character is interesting and flashy, the lenses on the hat are inclining people toward artificer, but honestly, with the emojis they used, I'm inclining weirdly towards Diviner Wizard! Could be cool, Marisha only played one in a one-shot and, honestly, she would do really good with one.
I really was waiting for that dwarf cleric. Oh well, this looks fun too. This is one of the few I call a cheater bet in this post since I've dived into the whiteboard in that announcement video, so I can't but guess this is an Orc Bard and connected to the inciting incident NPC that has been everywhere in Aramán clues. Tragedy Bard could be, since that subclass is made for Liam, but I'm open for anything at this point and I want him to recite stuff to inspire.
Tyranny! What a great name! The second of our sun symbology theme. She has her hands in a praying position so that could be Cleric, but to be honest, this character really has me wondering what they could be! Cleric? Wizard? A weird Monk? Not sure, excited to know more and to know more about Whitney!
Oh Mark Mercer, what have you brought to the table. This one has me a bit confused, my brain wants to say Rogue or Battlemaster Fighter, but honestly I'm not sure which! We just saw a Dexterity Battlemaster in C3, but you could always have a different take! I love that gauntlet though, makes me wish he was a Fighter Banneret. I'm inclining towards Fighter for now, but reticently.
Vaelus is so fucking cool. My catholic upbringing is eating this up. Regarding class, I'm really not sure! Sure the thurible and nun aesthetic makes me want to say Cleric, but could also be Monk (Shadow or Mercy)? Or Warlock? I've been waiting for a drow PC for a while and now I'm in my drow era since I have a few of my own that I really want to play. Ashley really created something intriguing here.
The second of my cheater bets on this list. Taliesin really knows how to bring interesting ideas to a character and this masked (is it a mask) fellow is really unnerving. The translucent weapon and what was on the whiteboard is pretty much Warlock with Pact of the Blade. You could argue Soul Knife Rogue, I'm not so sure. Regarding subclass, Taliesin is known for using homebrew (though gunslinger wasn't a homebrew originally, it was just not in the new system) so regarding subclasses I'm probably screwed but I will say that this art and concept really plays well with Fiend, Archfey and Great Old One. A Fiendish Jester that feeds of something strange, a weird and dark Archfey, or a being much older and creepier. Great stuff, you could build a bunch of ideas using this artwork.
Third of the cheater bets. Aabria bringing in an orc, which seems to be a big factor in this world, is great! And a Druid nonetheless! She can be really really creative, and after watching Suvi in WBN, I'm really excited to see yet another of her characters and what she will do with her, what does she represent AND, using what Aabria has said before, what is the lie she believes? Regarding subclass, I'm inclined to say Circle of the Land until further notice.
Robbie is bringing in the big guns. Just look at this hot boy. Kattigan seems to be a Beastmaster Ranger, I think it's the best fit, it's not a Druid Wild Shape situation since the cutie over there has that ghostly paw. But damn, this dude means business. My only question remaining is what is he holding? Looks like a rod or wand, but could be a mace? Is this a Shillelagh Wisdom Ranger? Having played one they are super good, specially since the Beast statblock benefits a ton from your Wisdom. Also I see those vials and the equipment of our friend here, very interesting. Love the matching scar/tattoo
Luis! Azune is so cool and interesting! I'm really torn on what he is! Is this a Tempest Cleric? With that lightning in one hand and cold on the other? He is holding something on his cloak! Is this an Eldritch Knight? With a Shocking Grasp and a Ray of Frost prepared? I'm not sure! But I'm sure I will love him! I have loved everything Luis has been that I've watched so I'm excited to know more.
Last but not the least, Laurs! A fairy is a super exciting choice and I want to say Rogue so she can finally play as one! That's probably it, but a part of me really wants to play a fairy Barbarian so I'm just leaving that thought out there. I love those wings though, and the button and the way the sword just look like needles, oh my Silksong heart.
---- So my bets currently are
Teor - Paladin
Occtis - Artificer
Wicander - Sorcerer
Murray - Wizard
Halandil - Bard
Tyranny - Cleric? Monk?
Sir Julien - Fighter? Rogue?
Vaelus - Cleric? Monk?
Bolaire - Warlock
Thaisha - Druid
Kattigan - Ranger
Azune - Fighter
Thimble - Rogue but maybe Barbarian like Bramble? I can only dream
I was going to try to match all of these to each of the 13 classes and I think I am close but there is a barbarian I'm not seeing or there's one duplicate and barbarian is out. These are my thoughts as of now, haven't dived fully into the emoji associated with each one yet.
New short gave us more insights!
New information after |
Teor - Paladin | Confirmed!
Occtis - Artificer | a dweeb apparently
Wicander - Sorcerer | Though saying stuff about beliefs makes me wonder if it's a cleric
Murray - Wizard
Halandil - Bard | Theater, performance and an ex spouse!
Tyranny - Cleric? Monk? | Abyssal tiefling maybe since she corrected her being a demon not a devil.
Sir Julien - Fighter? Rogue? | Oh god he seems so troublesome, exciting!
Vaelus - Cleric? | Uses a whip so my monk idea is out I guess. Also very tall drow, super cool
Bolaire - Warlock | Curator of a Museum of Magical and Dangerous Antiquities
Thaisha - Druid | Wholesome!
Kattigan - Ranger
Azune - Fighter
Thimble - Rogue | Confirmed! Exciting to see her finally play one
Update from something in the trailer!
Sir Julien seems like he's a fighter due to his saving throws proficiencies (barbarian has them too but less likely I guess)
