It's about time I did a little redraw for our A Song of Ice and Fire TTRPG now that we're well into "Season 2" of the campaign ⚔️. Our game is going strong and our characters are now starting a war in the year 212 AC (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms era)

Brother Wenzel is supposed to be a (fantasy) medieval monk, right? So uh, does that mean he took a vow of celibacy like real life contemporary monks did... or can a girl dream?

Something about his cringefail personality and rat-faced looks have awakened something in me.

GIRL I feel this in my soul hahaha!! Something about a cringe-fail man really does it for me too!!

I’ll be mentioning a few spoilery things ahead so if you’re reading this and you’d rather find this out via the comic, please ignore this!

Although this is technically fantasy, it is pretty heavily based in a historical setting so there IS a vow of celibacy that the monks take. However, the importance placed on upholding these vows sort of varies from person to person.

Some monks take the vows deadly seriously while others don’t really care. It’s definitely not encouraged but it’s sort of an open secret that there are certain people who are not celibate and are just keeping it under wraps. You just shouldn’t be flaunting it in front of the Abbot or any of the high ranking clergy members.

Brother Wenzel is definitely in the "I don't care" camp. He didn’t choose to enter the church; it was forced upon him at the age of 20 (He’s 30 now). Unlike a lot of the other monks in his order, he wasn’t a virgin when he swore his vows so do with that information what you will hahaha. A girl CAN DREAM. There are some other characters (who have not been mentioned yet) that are shocked beyond belief to find this out and do NOT believe him.

THANK you thank you!! I can't wait to share more!! That is a VERY good question. I have a few comic artist friends who have been suggesting things to me. So it's either on my own website, or on somewhere like Tapas?? (I've heard mixed things about Webtoon) This comic is also likely not going to be drawn in a long scrolling format thats very common for webcomics (I like having pages) so I'm not sure if that would limit me in anyway for where to post?

If you're an avid webcomic reader and have any suggestions for me, definitely let me know! I'd be curious to get peoples opinions!

I'm very excited to share more about his backstory and everything that has made him,,, weird like that! He was definitely a little too excited about exterminating that little devil and we don't have time to unpack that yet haha.

Brother Wenzel has become so precious to me!! Not only is he fun to draw (The tonsure/wolf cut combo is ELITE! Adds to his rattish charm) but I've been working on the elements of his backstory so I'm excited to share what his deal is and put him in more situations haha I hope you stick around for the longer comic!!

My tin hat theory is that Sir Gallant used to be someone from Wenzel's past- either a previous lover, or maybe a former monk- but something happened to Gallant and he believes it is more beneficial for himself if Wenzel doesn't figure out the truth (either out of care, out of personal interest, or maybe even out of revenge if Wenzel played a part in his previous self disappearance)

its honestly astounding how you made a guy with a tonsure kind of hot. like really skillful to manage that /gen. ive probably been into weirder characters overall but ive never even considered the possibility of anybody with a tonsure being able to be hot. great work 👍

THANK YOU, I have no idea how I did it either!!! To be fair I've always been intrigued by monks with tonsures and I really adore the design of the monks from the game Pentiment, so that was definitely a huge inspiration. I believe that theres a weird, hot rat energy to Wenzel that transcends his haircut. I'm here to deliver lots more hot tonsure action in the future.
