in my mind if dragons were real then western and eastern dragons would be only distantly related species filling the same ecological niche across different continents. but due to visual similarities got called the same thing in English. and it would be one of those things that you hear on trivia game shows and go "oh that's neat" about and then move on with your day, like how tanuki get lumped in with racoons even tho racoons are musteloids and tanuki are canids. do you see my vision.

You'd think "don't use a fictional creature as an allegory for oppressed minorities and as a horde of vile automatons that it's always okay to kill in the same work at the same time" would be a no brainer, but roughly 70% of all works featuring goblins and/or robots demonstrate otherwise.

Star Wars using this exact formula with droids blows my mind to this day. Like, they really can’t decide whether they’re actually an oppressed group or genuinely mindless automatons whose inner lives we don’t need to worry about.

Given that Solo: A Star Wars Story features a droid liberation activist who's very obviously characterised as a mean-spirited parody of a women's rights activist and whose concerns are consistently treated as misguided and laughable (before they blow her up and use her brain to repair a spaceship), I'm not sure it's that the writers can't decide so much as it that they don't want to say what they really think out loud.

funny as fuck every time how people keep being like "zuo le you are stupid and you suck and your only redeeming quality is that you're fast on your feet" and he stumbles his way through the story getting insulted and bamboozled at every turn until eventually they need someone who's fast on their feet and then he does some crazy wuxia shit and it's awesome

I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare

The bravery of this woman astounds me and I really really want her assertiveness and clever comebacks cause this is a dream come true.

the important thing about naruto classic is that, since it's mostly from the perspective of a 12 year old, it makes kakashi look like a cool nonchalant guy who is mysterious and scary and eccentric but powerful and always fashionably late and a feared shinobi and nothing bothers him... and then you get more of his backstory and inner dialogue and realize he's actually a vaguely suicidal dumpster fire of a man who reads porn in public and built his moral compass off a dead child and and has never been nonchalant about anything in his entire life

My official position is that Luigi Mangione is innocent because he's not the real killer and whoever the real killer is is also innocent. Two different people who are both innocent.
