I recently found out why my mom would never sleep around me when I was a kid. Like sheâd never let herself take naps or sleep if I was awake, ever. Or if she did, she would lock her bedroom door. So when I was 6, I was asleep in my bed in the middle of the night when I hear a loud bang, like a pot being dropped and come out to the living room to see my mom standing by the window, with just a huge pile of spaghetti all over the sill, and a pot on the ground, and I âm like âAre you gonna eat all that?â And yaâll she getâs BIG MAD and yells at me and chases me to my room but then a little while later a bunch of cops show up and ask me a bunch of random ass questions about my art? Like this one cop lady keeps asking me to draw dragons for her?! And they seem mad as hell
I didnât want to get arrested so I just never asked my mom for spaghettis after that. Lesson, learned. Donât ask mom for spaghettis or sheâll call the damn police on you.Â
So I have this memory in my head, and it goes unquestioned until I say it outload for the first time a few months back and as soon as I say the words âWhen I was six, my mom called the cops on me for asking for spaghettisâ My adult logic slams into place and is like âHang on. Your mother definatly did not call the police on a 6 year old for asking for spaghetti.âÂ
So obviously thatâs not what really went down. I call up my mom to tell her how I remember it and on top of her figuring out why her kid has always been really cagey around spaghettis for the last 3 decades she tells me what really happened.Â
So on that night, a man tried to break into our house through the front window. It was just my mom, and her kids so she did what she felt she had too and shot him in the head. Heâd been wearing a helmet, which landed on the floor under the window.
Now I just want yaâll to put yourselves in my moms shoes for a minute here. This woman has just taken a human life. The trauma of that- the instant agony, the panic, the guilt, the fear- all of it hitting her at once, her only solace the knowledge that her children are safe. She protected her daughters. No matter the cost to her soul- her children are safe.
Then she looks up and sees her six year old staring at the inside of this mans head before saying âAre you gonna eat all that?âÂ
I suspect they were trying to keep me busy and distracted while they cleaned up the corpse in the living room?!?
someone said tumblr nuked this post, but I could never be so lucky.

Hi, its me. The warmest creature in the world. I love you. Im the warmest creature in the world and I love you so much and I need to be in your lap right now. Yes, I know about the heat wave. That's okay though because I was already the warmest creature in the world so I don't mind. I love you and you need to let me sleep in your lap right now. I'm soooo warm and I love you sooo much. If you say no you'll be saying no to a thing that love you. Let me sleep in your lap. When I fall asleep I get warmer. I love you

Didnât anticipate one of the bonuses of going to a drag show in a smaller more conservative town would be getting to see a bro who clearly wandered into the wrong part of the bar by mistake experience what looked to be a transcendent awakening upon seeing his first drag show.
On of the queens halfway through the show, âHoney, are you straight?â
This man, in a strangled voice, âI donât knowâ
We love the character development
Answering "I don't know" is a level of self awareness a lot of people never attain
Stephen King rightly gets a lot of shit for frequently having his characters think and speak in pop culture references that only make sense if you spent your formative years in 1970s Maine, but I feel like articulating that particular criticism on Tumblr is something of a glass-houses situation.
I've seen some posts trying to make fun of former gifted kids by comparing them to former student athletes who insist that they could have gone pro if not for a specific injury, and those posts always backfire, because my reaction to them is "You're right, we should treat former student athletes with more compassion than we currently do"
I went from being very physically active to getting the "your body doesn't make energy properly anymore" disability so I can completely understand the grief that comes with circumstances outside your control destroying parts of you you were once proud of and locking you out of the life you could have had. It's not a good feeling.
... was that not the whole point of that comparison? Are we supposed to dislike the kids who were pushed into overworking and permanently damaging their bodies at a young age by people who should know better but value second hand glory over the health of kids?
If you're wondering how things are going on bluesky, this brain genius is one of the engineers holding the site together.
People are yelling at him because he admitted been vibe coding the site for months and now he's having a meltdown about it. Things are great.
Honestly incredible. If I had actually bothered to go into the industry I got my education in, guys like this would be my peers and my bosses and I frankly think I'd end up on the news if I had to spend most of my waking time around these guys.
This is correct.

someone invents a recipe > their child loves it > they grow up and replicate it for their own child > their child loves it > they grow up and replicate it for their own child > their child loves it > they grow up and replicate it for their own child > their child loves it > (this continues indefinitely)
The funny thing is as a parent you always think, âmine isnât as good as Nana made it.â But your kid adores it and one day will say âit isnât as good as my mama made it but the kids like it.â
and on it goes
and so love is passed down the chain of generations, on and on, from mouth to mouth to heart to heart

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE 1.04 â "M.E. Time"
GOD today i served a family of 3 and the dad was like âiâll have a cappuccinoâ and the kid, a girl of about 11, was like âPLEASE.â and he was like âuh yeah. pleaseâ and the kid goes âwell youâre always telling me to remember my manners!!! you should too!!â and i was cracking up
and then she was standing there w her mum while i made their drinks and i asked if the mum wanted chocolate sprinkles and she was like âyes pleaseâ and the kid goes âwell at least SOMEONE remembered their mannersâ and then sighed dramatically and HEELYED AWAY and honestly? not sure how to go on knowing iâll never be as cool as this 11 year old
Imagine being a side character in the freaky Friday reboot and not even knowing it
In honor of it being Breyerfest this weekend, let's do a Breyerfest model! Today's horse is Nazruddin, on the Marwari mold. This was the celebration horse for Breyerfest 2017, and the mold was sculpted by Brigitte Eberl.
This model is another based on a real horse. This guy, actually:
(Image from breyerfest.app.)
As you can see, Nazruddin has those unique, curved-in ears. They are a breed trait of the rare Marwari, from the Marwar region of India. (Though they can also be seen in the Kathiawari breed.) Marwari are almost nonexistent outside of India, though at the time that he was featured at Breyerfest, Nazruddin was one of 15 in the United States. Historically, Marwari were used as cavalry mounts, and were known for being brave in battle.
I really love the look of this mold; he has expressive eyes and he looks like he's in motion, stamping and tossing his tail. He's on the smaller end of traditional models, but he is lovely nonetheless.
i really don't understand some people being like "does your daughter know her uncle" as if he's a criminal? he's disabled, not a maniac who would harm children...
I think it's actually more because we live 600 miles away and traveling that far is hard for anyone let alone a profoundly disabled man who can't speak
So we just come to him
We've been here for 3 weeks and penny has introduced Uncle Bug (that's what she calls him) to chocolate Oreos and cakesters and he has introduced her to the Movie Robots and sour cream and onion chips and also opening heavy doors that we actually aren't thrilled about lmao
I'm like dude please don't open the door and let her outside she's small a hawk could take her đ
Update
"ONCE I CAN READ U GUYS WONT BE ABLE TO STOP ME AND UNCLE BUG!"

âThere arenât enough hours in a day.â There are actually. The problem is that we think 40 hour work weeks are an unavoidable fact of life.
The problem is that everyone has to work 8 hours, pretty much no exceptions, and with getting ready time + (unpaid) lunch + commute, â8 hoursâ is actually anywhere between 9 and 12, every single day, with more work to do when you get home because our society and culture was built around having one member of the household home full time and nothing has changed now that almost everyone works.
No wonder Americans are reliant on DoorDash and fast food, thereâs no time or energy to cook. No one wonder mental and physical health are in shambles, many just spent all day sitting in fluorescent lights with little to no stimulation. âJust wake up earlierâ âJust meal prepâ⌠these are ok short-term, individual solutions, but the broader, systemic issue is obvious. We arenât built for this. Thereâs no work-life balance. Genuinely, I think if our culture could normalize a shorter work week, many individualsâ biggest problems would simply evaporate.
