That said, because of the events of the same game as well as Kingdom Hearts overall themes, I'm pretty sure the Child of Destiny won't end up being that significant. Kingdom Hearts talks a lot about destiny, but it's also very good at subverting destiny-based tropes.

Sora being the poster boy for that. Throughout the series, he's the biggest advocate for self-determination :

He believes in Riku's redemption even when Riku himself thinks his past choices have doomed him. Sora acknowledges and protects the existence of people who were never supposed to exist, such as Naminé, Roxas, and Xion. Then, in Kingdom Hearts III, he goes fuck the rules by using the Power of Waking to save everyone .

If anything, fate in Kingdom Hearts is often portrayed as a narrative constructed to justify or maintain control. The best example is the Book of Prophecies, which predicted the Keyblade War only to be it's cause. As well as Xehanort's self-important belief that he is destined to reshape the world becoming the very justification for all of his actions.

In fact, the only example I can think of where destiny is presented without an ulterior motive is the phrase "One Sky, One Destiny." And it's less of a prophecy than a thematic statement: despite the separation between worlds, they are all connected, a such no one is ever truly alone.
