I do really enjoy the Case Files anime but if I had a criticism of it, it's the way it turns Gray into a bit more of a moeblob? It's the same issue Shirou had in UBW, where we didn't get to see his internal thoughts so outwardly he comes across as a different character than the VN. In Gray's case the anime lacks her internal snark (she is very critical of others, especially Waver) and most of her genuinely upsetting self-depreciation and suicidal thoughts. Without those the anime just gives us what she is on the surface: shy and cute. Again, the same issue Shirou had in UBW.

i actually really like the concept that diantha missed xy because she was pregnant/had recently given birth. not only does it give her a good excuse, it also completely recontexualizes her conversation with lysandre
