came across a very funny image earlier and it reminded me of them
actually fucking tragic more people don't know about infinity train, the animated kids show that aired on cartoon network, where the season two transgender allegory protagonist straight up brutally murders a cop onscreen.
The sudden death of Infinity Train is one of the hugest losses in animation history and I rarely see anyone talking about it!
This show has one of the most unique takes on storytelling I've ever seen in an animated series, let alone one that got onto Cartoon Network. It's like a merging of Doctor Who and Twilight Zone. It never talked down to its audience and explored themes rarely tackled on afternoon television presumed for children. One of the most creatively wonderful series I've ever seen with such important messages!
Can someone please wrestle the rights to it from WB's ungrateful hands and pull a Coyote vs Acme for us because it DESERVES to have all 8 seasons made. IMMEDIATELY.

“bits to use in everyday conversations”
i once asked my friend very enthusiastically "hey have you seen star wars?" as if to share a fun fact, and when she told me she hadn't, i just said "me neither"
reasons why tumblr remains the Superior Social Media™
there are no influencers. there's no audience. no one is earning money from posting. we're all just doing it for the love of the game.
there's no shitty AI feature being shoved down your throat every time you open the app. no chatbot, no pop-up asking you if you want to drastically transform the picture you're about to post, no captions suggestions, no AI overview in the search feature.
no doomscrolling. there are barely any videos on here anyway and the ones you see, you just watch them and move on. you're not tempted to keep scrolling till eternity.
you curate your own feed. there is an algorithm (i think) but it's not as invasive as other apps.
you don't have to share any of your personal information. there's no two-factor authentication.
there are ads but they're not as unavoidable and obnoxious as other apps. yes, some of these ads are AI slop and i hate them but they're definitely easier to avoid imo.
this website is about community. referring back to my first point, since there are no influencers, there is no hierarchy. it's a playground rather than a stage show. the fun comes from participation, not mindless consumption.
and on that note, some of the most iconic memes have originated on tumblr because of this community aspect. the joke would be way less funny if it was just one person saying the joke and everyone else laughing. the fun comes from the "yes, and" from everyone else.
yes, shitty people still exist here but the website itself doesn't push toxicity to the forefront. if you open the comment section of any instagram post or reel, the comment with the most replies are often displayed first. why? because those are the controversial/problematic ones. tumblr doesn't have that. if you see a toxic comment, that's just a coincidence, not tumblr trying to make you engage in an argument.
the layout is simple and fairly easy to navigate. they're not changing things up every few months so that when you try to go to chats, you accidentally click on a fucking AI feature. i know some other people have complained about changes in the tumblr layout but i find it a lot less offensive than other apps.
it's a tribute to the early internet, especially the blog aspect. how many blogging websites still exist? how many social media apps allow you to decorate and modify your profile outside of profile pic, header and description? tumblr just feels more alive and less corporate. of course there's a corporation behind it, but it's not some asshole billionaire trying to shove generative AI down your throat and take all your money.
feel free to add on! i feel like we need to appreciate this hellsite (affectionate) a lot more in these trying times
We stan for a morally gray queen 👏 Gertrude Robinson nobody will ever make me hate you
So you know how in EP 179 Basira says to Jon, "You apologize too much", to which he replies, "Martin says the same thing", and then Basira says, "Like he's any better"?
So yeah, this little interaction inspired me to crunch some numbers. And believe it or not, but Martin is, in fact, better!
Statistically speaking.
Over 5 seasons, Jon apologizes 122 times, while Martin apologizes 91 times.
The main difference between these two is that Jon apologizes more frequently and for everything (especially in S5), whereas Martin piles up multiple 'sorry's per apology.
Nothing illustrates that better than this little tidbit, which coincidentally comes from EP 179, as well!
EP 179 is *also* The Most Sorry Episode™: it sits at 9-4 with Martin in the lead!
Impressive work all around! (I'm incredibly concerned. These two need help.)
[ID: the first image is a line graph titled "It's Always 2 Insecure Bitches Telling Each Other 'I'm sorry. - It's fine.'" It shows the number of times Martin or Jon has said "sorry" in each season. The data is
S1: Martin 9, Jon 5
S2: Martin 4, Jon 16
S3: Martin 27, Jon 15
S4: Martin 6, Jon 25
S5: Martin 45, Jon 61
The second image is a transcript screenshot reading, "Martin: Sorry! Sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" /end ID]
mira and zoey are definitely that couple who checks out other people together, both men and women.

i hate it when horror movies make me feel sorry for someone (literally every horror movie ever)
when you think you’re in an art block but that one wip makes you lock in so hard

huntrix as highschool students
rumi: straight A student. school council president. her mother was the school principal. generally friendly with everyone but no one actually knows anything about her, not even where she lives. wears her blazer even in the hottest summer, claims that it's because she's the council president and should set an example for the rest of the students.
zoey: art kid. constantly doodling in the margins, on her hand, on the table. writing lyrics EVERYWHERE. permanent ink and paint on her uniform. accidentally turned in her exam paper with a doodle on the margins once and got detention for it. tried to make friends but people often talked behind her back about how she was “too loud and annoying”.
mira: the delinquent. never got the dress code right, something was always wrong with her uniform. either she didn't wear her necktie or her skirt was hiked up too short, or her shirt was half unbuttoned or she had her blazer tied around her waist messily. got into fights with other students a lot, most of them were scared of her. despite that, she never bullied anyone, she just snapped back if someone was being annoying or rude to her. sat at the very back. often graffitied the school walls. the detention was practically her second home.
