Reblog and put in the tags a cameo appearance/voice where the person was NOT a professional actor, but you think they did a decent/good job.
grown adults crashing out over "gen alpha humor" is the most pathetic thing i've ever seen. "oh but 67 makes no sense!" gen z literally prided themselves on being the generation with absurdist humor. y'all are mad about two numbers?
and even if you are concerned about brainrot or whatever, you should be directing that anger towards the parents and society, not the 12 year olds who have no control over what media they have access to.

it's also the fact that Nikki used to be this chill, fun girl with a personality of her own and she seemed to be pretty well liked. and then after the wish, she's transformed into the "crazy girlfriend", clinging to Bear at all times, humiliating herself in front of a large group of people, begging this man who assaulted her to give her a chance.
imagine how utterly degrading and humiliating it must feel to be forced into this image. to be forced to embarass herself in front of her friends, to be forced to beg for forgiveness to a man who should be pleading to her.
even if Nikki didn't go to prison, her social life is ruined. no one will see her as anything other than Bear's crazy clingy girlfriend who caused a scene at that party.

i can't believe people actually believe in the "Nikki got possessed by the cat" theory. i thought that was an absurd joke 😭
like why tf would that happen? why would the one wish willow put Sandy's soul into Nikki's body?? do y'all hear yourselves?
"oh but Nikki does all this weird stuff" yeah, because Bear wished for her to love him to an unnatural degree, so wish Nikki literally does not care about anything other than loving Bear. she has no sense of right and wrong, no consideration for human life, no care for herself because her entire world revolves around Bear now.
also she literally COOKED THE CAT AND PUT IT IN THE SANDWICH. you think the cat just wanted to feed its own rotting corpse to Bear?
i'm generally not one to stand in the way of fan theories and headcanons but this one specifically is so stupid and it's insane that people are 100% serious about it.
it also reduces the impact of the movie and turns an otherwise interesting social commentary into "ooo this girl got possessed by a fucking cat"
imagine being mind controlled (bear with me) by a literal incel, and the only hope of rescue is (BEAR WITH ME) tweeting a coded message
everyone talks about "what's so bad about being with me?" but i want to talk about just how small and weak and helpless Nikki sounds in that scene. part of it is because she doesn't want to wake up wish Nikki, but it's also definitely because she's so exhausted at this point. she's tired of fighting, tired of being trapped in her own body, tired of being forced to be something she's not. she used to be loud, confident and cheerful. she used to crack jokes and playfully tease her friends. and now she's reduced to a husk of herself, with barely any energy to even raise her voice at her abuser.
The single most horrific thing about Obsession to me is the fact that Nikki literally couldn't do anything about it. She tried to do the right thing initially, have her friend be up front with her about his feelings, and all she could do was trust him at his word when he lied directly to her. And then he went behind her back to, albeit unknowingly, strip her of her autonomy and individuality, everything that made her her, and there was absolutely nothing she could do. She couldn't fight him off, advocate for herself, she wasn't even given the grace to understand what was happening to her or why she's being made to act like this. And when everything goes down and Nikki begs Bear to kill her, the only ask that the real Nikki had made of him since the wish began, he didn't even have the decency to respect the one single fucking thing she had ever asked of him. He has the real Nikki in front of him, speaking to him, like he had wanted the entire time, and he essentially asks "Well what about how I feel about all this? What's so bad about being with me?"
And when he refused her wants and needs once again, there was not a thing she could do.
the customer service guys from obsession and the substance should make out with tongue

it's the fact that Bear KNOWS that Nikki doesn't like being called Freaky Nikki, he tells Ian that she's sensitive about it but then proceeds to call her Freaky Nikki anyway. because it's clearly more important to listen to your misogynistic homies than value the feelings of a woman you supposedly love.

i saw someone comparing Obsession with Frankenstein, and at first i thought that comparison was a bit random since the two stories had nothing in common.
but the more i thought about it, the more i realized that Obsession succeeded in making a Victor Frankenstein-esque villain more than the 2025 movie did.
don't get me wrong, the movie was beautiful. i loved Jacob Elordi as the creature, the acting was great and the visuals were stunning. but one major change in the movie was that Victor was rewritten to be more obviously a villain.
right off the bat, Victor was shown to be abusing and berating the creature and then trying to burn down the house with the creature in it. he also generally had a very arrogant and self-righteous demeanor. there's even a very on-the-nose line of "you are the monster, Victor" which i was NOT a fan of.
this was not what book Victor was like at all. book Victor was more like Bear, in that he was a more subtle villain. much like Bear, Victor's villany came from his inaction and refusal to take responsibility for his actions.
Bear was never violent or abusive towards Nikki. Victor was never violent or abusive towards the creature. to someone who doesn't know the full story, these men come off as poor undeserving victims of these monsters.
Victor doesn't abuse or try to kill the creature, but what he does is he lets it run rampant and hurt people. when a child gets killed and an innocent woman is convicted for it, Victor does absolutely nothing about it despite knowing that it was his creation that did this. he lets the woman be executed simply because he was too much of a coward to take responsibility for his actions.
and in the same vein, the rest of the story plays out and more people get murdered by the creature because of Victor's inaction and cowardice. Victor is also selfish and loves to paint himself as the victim in any circumstance. even when the creature clearly threatens the safety of his wife, Victor assumes that he's the intended victim and thus lets his wife be murdered.
and up until recently, just like with Obsession, there was a lot of debate on who the real villain of Frankenstein was. and that's how you know the writer succeeded in writing a subtle villain.
with both Victor and Bear, it's not that they're moustache twirling villains orchestrating everything from the beginning. it's the fact that they are realistic villains, subtle villains; the kind that could be your neighbour, your coworker, even your friend.
Victor is reminiscent of many parents who neglect their children and refuse to take responsibility for the life that they chose to bring into this world. Bear is reminiscent of many men who are not outwardly violent but are selfish, cowardly and don't mind taking advantage of a situation as long as it benefits them.
both of them genuinely believe that they're the victim in this situation. Victor laments about how he did nothing to deserve all this and how this monster was ruining his life, and Bear complains about how obsessed and overbearing Nikki is.
i think writing a subtle villain is truly an art. there are many realistic villains in media but not all of them are subtle. it's a fine balance between making your character sympathetic and making them refuse to take accountability. Bear was sympathetic in many ways, people could even relate to him. and yet, it doesn't take away from the fact that he had the choice to try and reverse the wish but never thinks of doing it until HE is in trouble.
Obsession could have easily had "you are the monster"-esque dialogues but the director respected the audience enough to let us draw the conclusion. of course, a lot of people are drawing the wrong conclusion and that's their fault. but it's still great to see a villain who is so good at pretending to be the victim that even the audience thinks he is.
