what makes fexi so compelling imo is that there’s so much more to them than what’s on the surface. like yeah the bad boy/good girl trope is a big part of the appeal (he’s only soft for her etc) and i love it as much as the next person, but it’s the fact that fez truly has a good heart that makes it work. it’s the fact that despite coming from completely different worlds they are so similar - kind, reserved, level-headed, loyal to a fault. it’s the fact that lexi is insecure, meaning she worries about what people think of her, and fez happens to be the least judgemental person ever (‘nah you’re good, you met when you met’). it’s the fact that fez has been perceived as dumb his whole life, and most people only talk to him as a means to an end, but lexi has a real conversation with him where she’s interested in his point of view. it’s the fact that they both struggle with connecting with people their age and are isolated within their own circle - people don’t really see them, but they see each other. it’s the fact that lexi is a child of divorce, a messy one at that, and has also witnessed all of her sister’s failed relationships, so her idea of love must have suffered from it, but she ends up finding real, healthy love in the person least likely to be seen as the perfect boyfriend - a drug dealer high school dropout. it’s the fact that fez grew up without his parents’ love and had to take care of everyone around him from a very young age, but in lexi he might find someone who loves and takes care of him. it’s the fact that so much of the conflict that may arise between them would stem from their circumstances - their lifestyles being incompatible, fez’s occupation in relation to lexi’s loved ones struggling with addiction, lexi going off to college and fez being somewhat stuck in his life due to never having been given a chance. there’s just so. much. potential!!!!
