So I was trying to write a drabble to start a Hellaverse drabble collection, separate from my other works. And maybe then another drabble.

I was thinking of fairly popular pairings I like, and I decided on RadioJoy (platonic).

I swear I was aiming for 100 words. But what happened was nearly a 1K ficlet. And it actually fits as a companion piece to The Replaceable and the Irredeemable.

OOPS MY BAD lol.

So it's kinda done? I'm tempted to go ahead and post it?

But...I know that if I wait at least until after I've slept on it, I'm going to see something that will make me glad I didn't immediately put it up.

I enjoyed quite a bit about this chapter. Two main things were the scene toward the end when Octavia tells Stolas more about what's going on, and then with Husk in the final scene bitching at everyone. I MAY have been channeling some of my own workplace gripe energy . 🤭

Seems like I've been fairly consistent in posting on a six-week basis. I really want to update more frequently, but it's looking right now like the only way to do that is have smaller chapters...which readers may or may not appreciate. This chapter was over 8k because I really wanted to get to Octavia's reveal and then some plot movement back at the hotel with other characters making appearances. I'm going to try to stay under a limit of 6k after this...but we'll see.

TITLE: The Replaceable and the Irredeemable

FANDOM: Hellaverse (Hazbin Hotel + Helluva Boss)

RATING: Mature

SETTING: C1 includes a prologue bit from when Octavia is twelve, picks up a couple of weeks after Curtain Call (Hazbin Season 2 finale). This is a crossover fic with both shows, so I have taken the liberty of putting Curtain Call between 4 and 5 months after Sinmas. Also, I’ve made imp pregnancies a length of 5 months. Millie and Moxxie’s baby appears in C2.

FEATURED CHARACTERS: Octavia, Stolas, Alastor, Vassago

PAIRINGS: At the moment, all canon (Stolitz, Millie/Moxxie, Chaggi); others may develop, though there is already a pre-platonic RadioJoy moment in C1

“On numerous occasions, Octavia sensed a vague idea she could only unravel with clarity later, in her solitude, after the face-to-face moments with Andrealphus had passed.

That idea said: if Andrealphus wanted to stay in control, he would say exactly all of the things he did say.”

. Facing sobering realizations, Octavia has left the palace for a job at the Hazbin Hotel until her birthday. She is now trying to help make one of Charlie’s hopes a reality. Meanwhile, she considers an option from Andrealphus.

Stolas is coping with life without Octavia as he entertains a less-than-healthy social media fixation. At I.M.P. he worries over the implications of a job offered to the team.

A confrontation with Octavia leaves Alastor haunted by a single, echoing statement. Rosie has decided, given the recent events with the Vees and damage to the Pentagram, that he should be introduced to someone who can keep him in check.

Andrealphus has never had as much power as he does now, nor has he had to give any power up. He’ll do what he’s supposed to do when it’s time for Octavia to inherit…right?

For some reason, I wanna see Valentino in a fight with any of these any degree of unhinged on either side.

I keep recalling lines from previous fights and it’s sending me. 🤣

Blitzo: “Who wants to spend quality time with Daddy?”

Asmodeus: *almost in a fight* You better BACK THE FUCK UP.”

And in the same way Val hurled “Aussie slut,” at Cherri, I can hear him shouting “Peacock bitch” at Andrealphus.

Do you ever realize that you’re using a trope you KNOW you’ve seen used in some story or on television, etc., but you really can’t remember any examples?

I think of it mainly as Valensago. But Vassentino is a tag I put as well.

The vibe of the first chapter is pretty much the combination of images below. 😂 I’m obsessed with the idea of Val being obsessed with Vassago’s tailfeathers. I don’t know how that isn’t already a fandom trope. And I’m obsessed with the idea of Val being with someone he could call “ Birdie.”

There’s also a scene with Alastor talking to his food, aka Striker, if you’re into that as a rarepair lol.

So I've been tossing around a starter scene for 1.) bringing in core Hazbin cast members and 2.) introducing a problem that leads to a lot of the Hazbin characters meeting more Helluva characters--including Alastor and Stolas. Boy oh boy, I cannot fucking WAIT for that moment. Or the moment that solidifies consistent interaction between them. It's not gonna happen for quite a few chapters, sadly. If life could just stop interfering with my writing time, you know.

Anywho, the scene was just not coming along. I've been trying to figure out how to do more in less space, but with finesse. Finally I figured out that one scene I had planned on being summarized via Husk's memory should be the scene happening in real time, and the character I had planned to open the scene (Vaggi) should actually be Charlie, with Vaggi approaching later to prompt a transition from the scene.

Or I might open with Husk being grouchy about something, then bring in Charlie. That could probably work.
