Genuine question - how hard is it to learn italian? From a perspective of a native speaker?
Hi!
Considering that a lot of Italians regularly struggle with verb modes, I dare say it's pretty hard - at least when it comes to grammar. Not as much if your base is another Romance language, but most definitely if you come from English.
Learning how to pronounce the words is probably the easiest part - apart from a few consonant combos (gn, gl, sc) Italian is read as it's written, although learning where to put the stress on a word may require a bit of trial and error (judging by F1 pundits, it seems that English-speaking people struggle A LOT with the name 'Stefano'. They always put the stress on the a when it should be on the e.)
But verbs and sentence construction are definitely the hardest part
Thank you!!!!!
I like hearing things from native speakers as sometimes they are aware of things that learners aren't. Like what people struggle with the most as you mentioned stress on words.
Unfortunately, romance language expierence I have is very very basic french that I did use to understand italian guy once (that convo was an experience)
