Absolutely fascinated by Ryan Guzman’s (correct) belief that Eddie is entirely unaware of the romantic undertones that are peppered through his relationship with Buck. Or he’s not exactly unaware, but all those pieces of pepper are individual details and he can’t see the bigger picture, like putting a puzzle together while only looking at the pieces but not at what he’s got so far. He’s too naive to put things together. He’s never once considered it. If Buck were to confess to him, he’d be genuinely shocked. And Buck won’t, of course, confess, because if Buck is in love with Eddie, that’d break all the rules he’s set for this relationship. So Buck is ignoring the elephant in the room and Eddie is so zoomed in on specific parts of the elephant that he doesn’t even know it’s an elephant. He thinks that microscopic view of maybe-skin-or-an-iris is normal best friendship. Buck is “I’m not in love with Eddie obviously but if i was i wouldn’t be able to care about that rn bc I have a job and it would ruin the friendship rules I mentally gave us if he knew”. Eddie is “I want Buck to be with me all the time and I often think of him as my husband in my head and I want him to touch me and stay with me and I’ll do anything he asks of me and I worry about him a lot and whenever I think of growing old Buck is right next to me every step of the way also growing old. We’re such platonic best friends :)”. And that creates their wonderful dynamic where Buck dances around it all and Eddie is taking his hand and dancing with him because yay, they’re dancing. He loves dancing with Buck. Buck’s such a bad dancer. Ha ha.
a fanfic where buddie are on a roadtrip and get lowkey hatecrimed after arguing like a married couple and then they are run off the road and crash and eddie wakes up alone in hospital and is again lowkey hatecrimed by the local sheriff who accuses him of spousal murder and then eddie proceeds to escape hospital and ride on a horse and hold someone at gunpoint screaming for buck and oh no wait it's an actual episode of 911 that they wrote and filmed and edited and released
it’s so special to me that so much of fan culture is textual analysis for the love of the game. like thank god there are people in my phone who are also thinking about this thing i love so much that they are writing transformative fiction as character studies and setting clips of the show to music with theme-relevant lyrics and writing long text posts analyzing every line of dialogue like!! yay!!!

Descriptions in Between Dialogue
✧
⤠ how characters interact with the environment
⇝ moving something, picking something up, looking somewhere
⤠ how the environment interacts with the characters
⇝ weather, other character’s actions or movements
⤠ gestures
⇝ facial expressions, body language
⤠ shifts in position
⇝ standing, sitting, leaning, shifting weight, crossing arms/legs
⤠ physical reactions
⇝ body temperature, fidgeting, heart rate, character quirks
⤠ environmental descriptions
⇝ descriptions using the five senses, setting, character’s appearances
⤠ internal dialogue
⇝ emotional reaction to what was said, reflection of past experiences, connections to other characters/settings/actions
➵ I want to reiterate… descriptions using the five senses ; when in doubt, think of the five senses your character is experiencing and pick what best moves the story forward

Punctuating Dialogue
✧
➸ “This is a sentence.”
➸ “This is a sentence with a dialogue tag at the end,” she said.
➸ “This,” he said, “is a sentence split by a dialogue tag.”
➸ “This is a sentence,” she said. “This is a new sentence. New sentences are capitalized.”
➸ “This is a sentence followed by an action.” He stood. “They are separate sentences because he did not speak by standing.”
➸ She said, “Use a comma to introduce dialogue. The quote is capitalized when the dialogue tag is at the beginning.”
➸ “Use a comma when a dialogue tag follows a quote,” he said.
“Unless there is a question mark?” she asked.
“Or an exclamation point!” he answered. “The dialogue tag still remains uncapitalized because it’s not truly the end of the sentence.”
➸ “Periods and commas should be inside closing quotations.”
➸ “Hey!” she shouted, “Sometimes exclamation points are inside quotations.”
However, if it’s not dialogue exclamation points can also be “outside”!
➸ “Does this apply to question marks too?” he asked.
If it’s not dialogue, can question marks be “outside”? (Yes, they can.)
➸ “This applies to dashes too. Inside quotations dashes typically express—“
“Interruption” — but there are situations dashes may be outside.
➸ “You’ll notice that exclamation marks, question marks, and dashes do not have a comma after them. Ellipses don’t have a comma after them either…” she said.
➸ “My teacher said, ‘Use single quotation marks when quoting within dialogue.’”
➸ “Use paragraph breaks to indicate a new speaker,” he said.
“The readers will know it’s someone else speaking.”
➸ “If it’s the same speaker but different paragraph, keep the closing quotation off.
“This shows it’s the same character continuing to speak.”
I knew about half of this when I started writing. It’s amazing the stuff they don’t teach you in school that you have to work out on your own. And look, all beautifully laid out for you.

omg thank you for validating my excitement. I couldn’t believe it. I’ve been on cloud nine for hours now. truly, he temporarily cured my depression.
always worried about your partner but never about yourself...
when buddie have their first kiss and then mid makeout buck has a freaking out moment and his eyes fly open like holy shit I'm kissing eddie and eddie is kissing me back but eddie just keeps on kissing him and, eyes still closed, murmurs "you're freaking out stop freaking out" against his lips while his hand is in buck's curls and he's pulling him closer and it's eddie it's always been eddie so, really, what is there to freak out about
a lot of writing is sort of watching the film in your head like oh sorry can’t write the chapter yet i have to repeat hallucinate the dialogue first

Seven times Eddie knew exactly what Buck needed to hear + one time Buck agreed.
Bobby Nash 1x05 // Evan 'Buck' Buckley 9x15
#mybuck who was in love with eddie from the moment he saw him but didn’t know what that meant, who stepped into eddie’s life and loved his son enough to die for him within a year of knowing him, who had to be torn away from crawling though 40 feet of mud by hand for eddie, who carried eddie out of active gunfire, who cared for his child in eddie’s absence even though it felt so wrong, who shares his joy with eddie and who sits with eddie in his grief, who kept eddie’s house warm and safe for him to come back to even though it killed him to be away from him, who would have died or worse so that eddie could get home to the child they both love
#myeddie who right away knew buck needed people to care for and let himself and chris be his people even when it felt impossible to trust anyone, who trusts buck with his entire heart in the form of christopher more than anyone else in the world, who loves and forgives buck through all of his ups and downs because he sees his heart, who tried to pull buck’s limp body up by a single cable, who counted the seconds that buck’s heart wasn’t beating, who jumped off a bridge so buck wouldn’t, who was so desperate to find buck dead or alive that he became a fugitive and jumped out a window and traveled for miles with a broken and bruised body, who is gentle and kind to his core but was ready to kill for buck without a second thought
i think it's important as well that buck went to chimney as his Captain. not his friend or his brother-in-law. as his Captain. which i think is because buck didn't know HOW to go to someone about this in a personal capacity. it's so clear that he Wanted to open up to eddie in the ambulance. he was desperate for eddie to look at him and see him and when eddie didn't immediately look at him he quickly swerved to Trucks. and then when eddie DID look at him and see him and notice that something was very wrong (again) buck couldn't do it. he couldn't tell him. even though he Wanted to tell him. because buck is afraid that if people See Him they'll see a screw up. they'll see someone who isn't good enough. so he Can't do it. which says nothing about eddie or anyone else but about how He views himself in his worst moments. so he goes to chimney. significantly as his Captain. says You should fire me as a way to start the conversation because he doesn't know how to do this otherwise. and chimney meets him in the middle. as his Captain. yes he's going to go through the proper channels about this. but also as his friend and as his brother-in-law who knows him and Loves him and who this changes nothing for. and that's really what buck needed. to know that the people he loves don't love him any less or think any less of him. and they didn't.
it was easier for him to ask for punishment than to ask for help.
Fuuuuuuuck. @poughkeepsiesjr

also the fact that eddie brought chris to keep buck company while they took care of the house. yes it's about trusting christopher and letting him be in the loop for the difficult moments but it's also about eddie showing buck that even when he doesn't feel like himself, even when he doesn't trust himself, eddie will always trust him to be around christopher. there's nothing buck would do that could stop eddie from letting christopher see him, especially when he needs to be comforted.
It's the thing that ties us all together, so that no one person has to carry the weight alone.
