last song listened to: tbh i still want to talk about the Jovial Grandpa Quartet but i just came from the GRASSI Museum's exhibit on the history of musical instruments (especially instrument makers in Leipzig but also Europe more broadly) and it had a variety of audio recordings accompanying each era. The last one was a 1920 jazz song on a player piano, i dont remember the title though
^not the player piano in the recording I heard (that one had a bunch of percussion like cymbals and triangles) but was displayed in the same corner.
favorite colors: i also appreciate the plural but the answer is simply purple. I do like a lot of other colors but purple is the One True Fave
currently watching: Cowboy Bebop and Ikoku Nikkei with the watch group, I'll need to catch up when I'm back....
currently reading: I've been paging through a couple old travellogues I found in Project Gutenberg's Germany List. Especially In An Around Berlin by Minerva Brace Norton, i got through four chapters of that on the plane. Really fascinating to compare her experiences in the 1880s with mine, since we saw some of the same stuff even though the city has been almost entirely rebuilt (arguably multiple times) since then.
Currently working on: I'm on vacation :P
Currently wearing: my Travel Pants, some really threadbare socks, a comfy old tshirt, and my light stripey jacket from Chicago bc the heat wave has passed [in this city at least], it is now 24C and that is jacket weather for me :P
Last search: the history of the trombone, bc i thought they were invented around 1800 but the GASSI museum had some from the 1630s. Turns out they go back to the 15th centuy!!

currently watching: Nothing super actively. Just finished Ikoku Nikkei, and I watched the first season of Severance on a plane last week. Unfortunately, I don't have streaming access to the second season so idk if that counts as "currently" watching. Oh and I owe a friend a message bc we have to finish the rest of S2 of live action One Piece together.
currently reading: YAY BOOKS. I'm in the middle of The Dungeon Book right now (it's an advance reader copy) and REALLY liking it so far. Also in the middle of Ken Liu's upcoming short story collection The Passing of the Dragon (also an ARC) and liking it far less. I suspect he already put most of his bangers in previous collections, and these are the leftovers :P And I'm in the middle of a different anthology called The Uncanny Gastronomic which is all about the role of food in horror, which I need to get back to.
currently working on: Just got back from three weeks of travel and trying to figure out which project to dedicate myself to for the next few months at work. Probably going to split time between commissioning work for the mission I've been helping on all spring on but also try to spend least 30% of my time on a proper Science-y research project, starting with revamping my some code I wrote four years ago to look at variable stars, run it on some archival data, and get it ready for when the Roman space telescope launches in two (2!!!!!!) months.
Outside of work, I'm chipping away at the draft of the first arc of another fantasy novel and it's sooooo funnnnnnn :D

currently working on: Putting together a zine we wrapped up in June, starting to work on anthology piece, working off/on to finish a challenge project and chipping away few things from longer projects. Also doing proof reading for my one comic’s translation.
But mostly avoiding all of those.
