『 jonathan daviss. twenty-two. cis-male. he/him. 』 oh heavens, is that ATLAS HOLMES from CHESTNUT DRIVE i see roaming around mapleview? minnie may’s always calling them -APPREHENSIVE & -RESOLUTE. i happen to think they’re not that bad! they’re a pretty cool VET INTERN and every time i’ve seen them, they’ve always been +DILIGENT & +INTUITIVE. i hope i see them around again!

“Yes - okay, good, ‘cause that’s what I was thinking,” she said with a grin. She felt bad for not recognizing immediately, but then again, after returning back to Mapleview looking like Hazel Grace, word got out about her health situation pretty quickly and she found a lot of old classmates coming up to her. “Yes - yeah, um, that’s me.” She was impressed, but also felt like an asshole for not remembering his name. “Atlas - it’s nice to meet you. Well, meet you again,” she laughed.

     HE  SUDDENLY  FEELS  STUPID  FOR  having  brought  it  up,  making  him  seem  like  one  of  those  strangers  who  suddenly  care  when  something  happens.  they  both  have  their  own  demons  to  battle,  though  maeve’s  were  of  course  a  tad  bigger,  and  atlas  doesn’t  want  to  intrude  or  appear  in-genuine.  he  fumbles  for   words.  «  how  —  how  have  you  been  ?  »  he  asks,  stupidly,  as  if  that’ll  break  the  ice.

“… you’re telling me it can rain animals? or is this just a reference to that cats and dogs saying?” she asked, wondering what he meant by that. diana shrugged. “i have no clue, but i think we’re gonna check up on that later today.” she answered with an amused smile. “i’ll make sure to keep some for you, then. too bad we let the other two out in the wild.” 

penelope  nodded  her  head  when  she  heard  atlas  say  that  he  and  lane  had  spoke  ,  it  didn’t  surprise  her  that  they  had  and  certainly  didn’t  surprise  her  that  atlas  was  coming  to  ease  her  nerves  .  she  may  be  in  love  with  lane  morrison  but  he  makes  her  nervous  more  than  anyone  she’s  ever  met  and  atlas  always  seems  to  ease  those  nerves  .  ❝  i  know  .  he’ll  be  amazing  ,  atlas  .  like  every  day  i’m  like  .  .  .  wow  he’d  be  a  good  dad  and  now  it’s  actually  happening  .  ❞

          bex is taking that last couple of drags of her cigarette when atlas returns with trix, the sight brings an immediate smile to her face. a beat later though & she’s chuckling   typical trix, she thinks to herself. “ shit, dude…. sorry? she loves cats, man. don’cha girl? ” she asks trix, when the dog inevitably approaches her, tongue hanging out, tail wagging enthusiastically. she takes the dogs face in her hands & gives the back of her ears a scratch. “ but you just wanna play with them, don’t you, big girl? ” she allowed the dog to give her a few kisses before she’s standing, unleashing her & letting her inside.            attention is then back on the young man before her. she reaches into her pocket to hand over a 20 dollar bill, “ thanks, man. really appreciate it   drank a bit too much last night, i think. ” she says with an amused raise of her brows as she takes a seat on her porch step again. “ i’ve also got this joint, if you wanna stick around for a bit. ” she picks it up & wiggles it between her fingers with a hint of a smile.

     HE  WATCHES  AS  THE  DOG  bounces  inside  of  the  house,  a  small  smile  building  on  his  visage.  «  i  get  it,  i’m  like  that  around  cats  too,  »  atlas  admits  and  plops  down  next  to  bex.  he  should  probably  be  on  his  way,  but  he  enjoys  her  company,  relaxes  around  her.  «  just  glad  to  be  of  service,  bex.  »  and  honestly,  he  really  likes  trix  too.  atlas  is  about  to  reach  out  for  the  money  when  the  joint  catches  his  attention  instead.  «  oh,  keep  the  20,  this  is  payment  enough,  »  he  happily  chirps  as  he  accepts  it.

It wasn’t every day that Theo was out on a date with someone. He was actually kind of excited for it, that is until the woman he was with started to drink a little too much. He couldn’t tell you when his date had turned from friendly conversation to him comforting the blonde woman over a recent break-up. All he really wanted to do was crawl underneath a rock and curse himself for even agreeing to go on a date with anyone, knowing full well he never had much luck in that department, but he also did not have the heart to leave the woman there. He had been comforting her for what felt like years when he finally decided he couldn’t really sit here anymore and do it. Even though the bar was packed tonight, he still turned around to see if anyone stood out to him enough for him to ask for help, and that’s when he spotted a familiar face coming his way. He gave them the ‘pleading eyes’ when their gazes locked, offering a grateful smile when they came over, “Hey, you said you needed me for something?”

      IT’S  A  SMALL  TOWN  SO  atlas  shouldn’t  really  be  surprised  when  he  runs  into  people  he  knows.  it’s  the  pleading  eyes  of  theo  that  has  him  suspicious,  but  atlas  walks  over  regardless  —  and  he  just  knows  he’s  about  to  make  theo  wish  he  hadn’t  called  him  over.  he’s  never  been  good  under  pressure.  «  uh  yeah,  it’s  the  uh  ..  the  squirrel  again.  you  know,  ran  in  through  my  cat  door  again,  »  he  begins,  as  if  he  even  has  a  cat.  or  a  squirrel  problem  for  that  matter.  this  isn’t  going  well  at  all.  «  so  i  figured  ..  since  you’re  so  uh  ..  good  with  squirrels  ..  ?  »  well,  at  least  it’s  made  the  woman  stop  crying.

Taking a sip of his drink, Moon nodded his head. He was always fond of the saying and though it was rare to hear outside of his parents’ home, it reminded him always of the home he left behind so long ago. He kept his gaze on the man beside him and wondered if he was bugging him as he introduced himself. Still, Moon smiled as the other replied. “So I’ve been told,” he said with a small chuckle before raising his brows. “Atlas. Now that’s a cool name. Like the titan.”

      LIKE  THE  TITAN.  atlas  nods.  it  really  does  feel  like  he’s  holding  up  the  world  sometimes.  «  yeah,  my  parents  always  had  this  weird  obsession  with  mythology.  my  brother’s  named  orion  which  i  think  is  a  god.  talk  about  favoritism.  »  atlas  snorts,  takes  another  sip.  «  what’s  the  story  behind  your  name,  bro  ?  »

More than a decade into his career, Julien still didn’t tire of students recognizing him outside of the school. A need for air, a leisurely walk, and a chance to see something new had brought him out to the farmers’ market, whereupon a young student had spotted him and excitedly told their guardian. Seeing a teacher outside of school was always weird, but seeing a new one was even more thrilling, apparently. It was cute, nonetheless, and Julien took the opportunity to say hello and introduce himself to the guardian.

The sight of the small child’s face kept replaying in Jules’ head as he perused the goods up for sale, and he couldn’t help but laugh to himself–moments like that made him feel like a celebrity! It seems like they do want me around, he mused, head tilted down as turquoise eyes skimmed the fresh products, mentally taking stock for later. His plans, however, did not include the full-body near-slam he committed on another poor guest, evident that Jules clearly was not really aware of where he’d been going. He was small, and short-statured, but the force with which he collided with this pitiful stranger was almost impressive. “Oh– Oh, no, I’m so sorry!” he immediately cried out, hands flying up to potentially catch the other person or any belongings that might have fallen. “Please! Excuse me! I wasn’t– Oh, dear–”

     AS  PER  USUAL  ATLAS  is  off  minding  his  own  business,  scouting  the  market  for  something  he  can  treat  his  pet  fox  with  —  after  all,  even  if  he  doesn’t  celebrate  thanksgiving,  it’s  nice  to  give  something  to  the  little  fella.  for  all  atlas  knows,  it  may  be  important  for  the  fox.  the  man  is  clearly  taken  aback  when  something  —  or  rather,  someone  —  slams  into  him  with  a  surprising  amount  of  force.  clearly  the  other  had  been  walking  with  intention.  «  dude,  you’re  fine.  no  worries.  »  though,  honestly,  the  strength  of  the  man  is  impressive,  especially  considering  his  height.  atlas  is  at  least  a  head  taller,  if  not  two.  «  i  was  clearly  in  your  way  of  something.  my  bad.  »

     TURNS  OUT  PEOPLE  ASK  QUESTIONS  when  there’s  a  big  load  of  gasoline  involved,  but  the  same  suspicion  isn’t  met  with  a  baseball  bat.  atlas  and  alana  stare  at  the  building  in  front  of  them  in  the  dark  of  night,  though  the  vision  that  meets  them  is  probably  not  the  same.  where  alana  likely  sees  a  house,  atlas  sees  a  prison,  an  abandoned  cage  —  he  feels  small  again,  lamb  to  the  slaughter,  all  of  that.

     but  atlas  is  not  a  victim  anymore.  actually,  he’s  been  a  survivor  for  too  long.  it’s  time  to  fight  back.

     HE’D  BE  SUCH  A  DISAPPOINTMENT  to  his  parents  if  they  saw  him  now,  and  in  all  honesty  he’s  not  exactly  proud  of  himself.  atlas  knows  perfectly  well  there  are  other  ways  of  coping  with  it  when  he  gets  like  this,  but  he  effectively  pushes  everyone  away,  insisting  on  handling  everything  on  his  own  even  when  that’s  the  issue  in  the  first  place  —  he’s  alone.  everyone’s  off  living  a  life  where  he  doubts  he’ll  be  needed,  and  it  scares  him.  atlas  doubts  he’s  more  than  a  ghost  if  he  can’t  be  there  for  his  friends,  and  they  don’t  need  him.

“delish,” echoes prim. a laugh, silvery and so unlike her usual inflections, pierces through her reticent façade. although she’s lightly poking fun at him, she too is embarrassed, particularly when she hears her little giggle. “well, uh, yeah.” she stops laughing, tries to compose herself. “you’re fine.”

there’s a lot that prim can say about the way she still feels as if she doesn’t belong in america. that she feels as if people look at her like an outsider encroaching on their territory, forever in the fringes of society. but it’s not the time or the place to talk about her complex relationship with the country. there are more pressing matters, she supposes with a badly stifled smile. “nooo. my aunt’s son visited, he’s like six years old. i put this on for him. i guess i forgot to turn it off.” she knows it’s hardly convincing, but for some reason, she’s fine with him being aware of her lingering love for cartoons.

    IT  MAY  BE  A  CHILDISH  THOUGHT,  but  atlas  has  never  been  one  for  very  refined  brain  activity  —  all  he  can  really  think  in  this  moment  is  how  cute  prim  is,  whether  that’s  what  she’s  aiming  for  or  not.  of  course,  she’s  always  stunning,  but  something  about  seeing  her  like  this  and  being  invited  in  ?  atlas  feels  like  he’s  about  to  meet  royalty.

“you wouldn’t believe what happened last night.” diana shivered as she remembered the events that happened at the cabin near the woods. “aunt patty and i were fixing up the ceiling in her bathroom, right? and then… not one, but two frogs just… dropped on the floor…?” her tone was mixed with a bit of confusion as she told the other person what had happened. “as much as i think frogs are cute, all i could think about right now is the sky raining frogs, and it’s such a disturbing thought.”

     ATLAS  FEELS  LOST.  he’s  never  been  great  at  giving  gifts  and  so  he’s  staring  at  the  different  clothing  items,  trying  to  recall  what  exactly  it  is  his  mother  usually  wears.  he’s  momentarily  distracted  by  his  own  thoughts  though.  «  hmm,  »  he  begins,  looking  at  the  two  shirts  the  woman  shows  him,  «  that  one,  i  think.  the  color  makes  your  skin  glow.  »
