as rosie stood in line for her afternoon coffee, she looked up from her phone, and her eyes found attention in the person in front of her as they made their order. she was usually someone who kept to herself a lot, only speaking whenever she needed to. she looked away to not seem like a creep. but once she was standing at the counter to wait for her drink after making her order, she couldnât help but speak to the person. âhi.â she smiled. âthis is so random, but⌠i like your outfit.â she complimented. what was the harm in brightening someoneâs day, anyway?
âuh... thank you.â prim liked to dress in the way she always hoped to, but couldnât afford to â and she did it solely for herself (except for that brief time last year when she got insecure). so she didnât really know what to respond to such a compliment. she glanced at the other young woman from head to toe, not finding much to say about her outfit. thus, she replied instead, âyour hair is nice.â she didnât mean to sound rude, although that may have been how she sounded.

Although Thomas hadnât lived in Mapleview for long (only about 3 months to be precise), the first place heâd sought out was the coffee shop. He needed a relatively quiet place to work on the current project he was tackling, and the free wi-fi and constant flow of coffee was a bonus. He reached out and drained the last of his quickly cooling drink, not even registering the fact that someone was stood by his table. âJesus, definitely not using that fontâ he muttered to himself with disgust. As he looked up to search for a waiter or waitress so he could get a refill, he finally noticed that he wasnât alone. âOh, hey, Iâm sorry. I- uh, I was in my own world there.â he stumbled, looking up sheepishly and giving a small smile.
âThatâs alright,â said Primrose. She was something of a typeface enthusiast herself, and so couldnât resist butting in. âProxima Nova looks good, but itâs too BuzzFeed now, isnât it? Gotham is another good-looking and reliable font, but itâs overused.â She suggested, âHow about Graphik?â She reasoned, âItâs sleek and attractive, familiar without being clichĂŠd. No overt quirks, but not bland. Vanilla, but like a nice-tasting vanilla ice cream.â
VIVOREE ESCLITO as Kookai Yambao in Hello Stranger: The Movie (2021)
itslauries:
After the New Yearâs Eve party and all the mess Laurie had caused, his mother had made him promise to keep it together during their masquerade ball. He had agreed, not only because he didnât want to disappoint her any further but because the ball wasnât simply for show, it was actually to raise money for a charity the Villeneuve family supported. He couldnât be that selfish to ruin that evening.
Laurie had found himself sat by the couch, trying his hardest not to pout and pretend as if heâs actually having a good time. He hadnât touched a single glass of alcohol that far which made it all the more unbearable for him. With his head rested on his hand as he tried not to allow the mask to fall off, he barely even takes recognition to the person next to him until a very familiar voice speaks up. For a moment, he almost thought he was dreaming or hallucinating since he hadnât see her in so long, but one quick glance in her direction is enough for him to know he was not. That was Primrose, heâd recognize those lips anywhere, the very same ones he had once kissed ( yet it seemed like so long ago⌠). âI donât mind it.â Laurie responded, not sure she even knew it was him and perhaps it would be best that way. He didnât want to ruin her evening as well. âI know how these things can be.â
She rested her head on the top rail of the chair and wondered why they couldnât simply just give away the money. The Villeneuve familyâs intentions were good, it seemed, but why did it require yet another lavish party to raise funds for charity? This was a fun idea, she grasped that: extravagant costumes in a lavish home and a generally more progressive, unconfined, inclusive world than the time periods that such fairytale aesthetics often borrowed from. She just failed to see how the nightâs big patrons couldnât simply give away bits of their fortunes for the cause. But of course, she couldnât say any of that to the stranger.
âWell... the music is good,â Prim replied politely. The orchestra played Händelâs âAh! Mio corâ and Primâs heart ached again, recalling the lyrics sheâd studied when she learned the song years ago. Come back to me, the song implored. All she could think about was Laurie. That goddamn Laurie.

@mike_mn: hair so damn pale and roots are out.... is it finally time for a change? who knows. stay tuned for another episode of Indecisive Mike Ruins His Hair on netflix đŞ
@primdagohoy: damn, you're not giving that scalp of yours a break? excited for your bald era! #BaldMikeIsComing
setting: a villeneuve masquerade ball.
availability: closed ( for @itslauriesâ )
primrose has curled her hair for the evening, but she knows thatâs by no means the only reason people are treating her so differently. sheâs dressed in whatâs undoubtedly an expensive, embellished faux georgian-style gown, commissioned for her by none other than the villeneuve matriarch â out of guilt, probably. her identity is hidden behind the mask. tonight, sheâs just another rich girl lost in a sea of rich guests, for once entirely welcome.
her one consolation is itâs 2021, not actually the 1800s. she just has to survive the night; thatâs it. she wonât need to marry herself off to go back to the regular, mundane, small-town rhythms of mapleview. just one jane austen-esque party to survive. just tonight. yet despite her determination, she quickly finds herself tired. she sits down and, without glancing, tells the young man beside her: âiâm taking a break from all the dancing. sorry.â

atticusm:
with christmas and new years now through with, atticus is set on getting his nails done with a new range of colours. anything but red; well, crimson red to be exact. it may just be next winter when he decides to get red nails again, though who knows. despite his gaze being directed on his nails, part of him thinking just what he wants to do next, he is in fact listening to prim ramble. â itâs an easy thing to say, you know? not to stress too much about little things. â he begins casually, finally lifting his head. â if you want to cut your hair, go for it. you donât have to do a major chop first off. â
âbut i canât just compromise on this.â she heaved a sigh. she hoped to relax, but this kind of thing, small as it seemed to others, obviously felt significant to her. âi mean, if i compromise on such trivial, personal stuff, how can i maintain my convictions on bigger issues? iâm not usually so indecisive. you, how do you deal with this? are you indecisive?â she used to be so sure about everything. her resolute nature seeped even into her personal, minor choices.
alanacs:
popping a crunchy cheeto in her mouth whilst flipping through a  fashion  magazine (  a rather common occurrence for the blonde )  ,  alana doesnât even look up to see her friendâs new  hair-do  before mumbling her approval. â  it looks great,  â she speaks, licking her lips from cheesy texture thatâs left after snacking on her  favorite  guilty pleasure.  finally glancing up from the page to look at the younger woman, alana gives her a more thorough look.  â  i mean âŚ. â  she starts, but is quickly cut off with primâs rambling  &  self-doubt.  â  prim,  â  her toneâs more stern next time, raising a brow.  â  you really need to relax,  â Â
âall i really want is some peace of mind with how i present myself,â prim replied. âsurely you can grasp the concept.â she was, evidently, alluding to the fashion magazine in alanaâs hands. and she wasnât judging the blonde for it, not at all; though there was some tension in her voice, it was more due to the fact that alana was probably still on good terms with laurie, and she wasnât. prim didnât want a man to stand in the way of her friendship with alana, but she was human after all, so pardon her if it colored things a little bit. âyour physical appearance is a form of self-expression, isnât it? i canât just give in to my own self-doubt. what if i really want a haircut? should i simply relax or think about it? which is more honest to myself?â
location: anywhere appropriate.
availability: open to anyone!
( note: she could be unaware that your muse is there and talking to herself or she could be talking to your muse as well! )
âyou know, cutting my hair on new year was one of my resolutions,â said prim idly as she considered the reflection on the one-way mirror wall. âbut i donât know, maybe not. it looks good at this length, doesnât it?â she sighed. âmaybe i should replace that resolution with âdonât stress too much about little things.â thatâs something from which iâd really benefit.â as evidenced by her dutiful avoidance of preposition-stranding, even though this was not by any means a formal conversation and âthatâs something i would benefit fromâ sounded way more normal. âi need to fucking relax.â + @mapleviewstartersâ

what life skills are rarely taught but extremely useful?
âgenerally, i find that peopleâs skills at doing research, unearthing good sources, and being able to think for themselves are inadequate. you canât just rely on a twitter thread or someone explaining something in two minutes as they dance to the weekâs billboard top 1 on tiktok.â
