jaroden rights!

roden to me is like. he's sooooo. hang on.

i think roden's most notable trait is that he wants to be loved so, so badly. more than anything, really. he never wanted to be king for the sake of being king, he wanted to be important to someone. he didn't care about the power of it all. and i think it's so obvious to me on every page that roden wants to be loved, and he wants to love back, even if he doesn't really know how. like to someone who's never experienced love, who wants a parent and friends more than anything, his life in farthenwood makes so much sense. sucking up to conner in a desperate attempt to be conner's favorite not just to survive, but to make his life mean something to someone. joking with jaron one minute and arguing with him the next. it just. he wants a family so bad. and i love him so endlessly for that. roden wants the unconditional love of family, and that's why it's so hard for him when jaron pushes him away - it feels like he's rejecting roden's trust and love, and refusing to return those things. idk. this isn't all of what i was trying to say but.
