i love the 3x05 loustat scene in the car bc we’re immediately right back where we started. louis launches into a monologue about claudia, trying to process something related to his responsibility towards her, and all lestat can think as he sits there listening is why isn’t he asking about me. he might as well be lighting playing cards on fire; it’s 1x05 all over again. louis is unable to move on (“claudia, come home. i know i hurt you, i know i can make it right again”) while lestat feels abandoned and retreats into jealousy and victimization. “next time someone tries to murder me, pick up the phone” is 95ish years removed from “i have patiently waited in vain for you to love me as i love you”, but they mean the same thing. they expose the same vein in lestat. so much has changed. this hasn’t changed. claudia is dead. but this hasn’t changed. do you think they find something a little comforting in that?

that episode was so fun it's insane how much sound design and camerawork and editing style can make so much out of an episode where essentially nothing really happens at all... showing the precariousness of rhaenyra's mental state with the random chiming and the string instruments and the abrupt cuts from scene to scene. loved that the jace hallucination showed up that early in the episode and only the one time, like omg what will she hallucinate next...!!! and olivia cooke and emma d'arcy were acting to the moon and back in their scenes together which is like fork found in kitchen but WOWWW alicent's doe eyes will amaze me every time. rhaenyra crazy girl arc.... we waited for you for such a long time but you're finally here and it feels so good
