My name is Sam, you can also call me Mort or Static! (Please refer to me as he/they/it)

This here is my main blog where I reblog stuff, rant about my thoughts and feelings, talk about things I like, very cool stuff I know.

I'm an experienced writer, working on my own original story. I'm also a VERY beginner artist!

I'm currently super fixated on my OCs

My hobbies include writing, drawing, roleplaying, photography, reading, video games, collecting plushies, and baking!

My current interests and favorite things: Slay The Princess, Undertale/Deltarune, Night In The Woods, The Backrooms, Liminal Spaces, Doki Doki Literature Club, Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, Space/Astrology, The Among Us Show, and a small handful of Roblox games! There's probably more I haven't listed but oh well

I work full time and I am physically disabled and can be very slow getting back to people depending on how I'm feeling, but my DMs are always open to mutuals!! I'm also open to meeting new people. All I ask is that you please be patient with me

the average human lifespan globally is 70+ years

taking the threshold of adulthood as 18, you are likely to spend at least 52 years as a fully grown adult

at the age of 30 you have lived less than one quarter of your adult life (12/52 years)

'middle age' is typically considered to be between 45-65

it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age

it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.

you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, be fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.

young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!

there are a million things to do in the world, and they don't vanish overnight because an imaginary number gets too big

it is an incredibly joyous thing to look around at your friends as you're heading into your 40s and everyone is so much more themselves than they were when you were all scared and fragile 20-somethings. we're different genders now, we've gotten out of bad relationships and into good ones, we worked shit jobs and got better ones, we all cook a lot better and we eat better too, we casually pull off the kind of art we could only dream of as kids, we've figured out who we are and we do it on purpose now. the self-harm scars have all faded away and we complain about our bad backs and picky digestions instead.

Real thing that changed how i write: I started asking "what does this character think is wrong with them" and separately "what is actually wrong with them." Those two things are almost never the same. She thinks she's too much. She's actually terrified of being too little. He thinks he's bad at commitment. He's actually just never met someone he trusted enough. The gap between their diagnosis of themselves and the real thing, that's your character arc right there. you don't have to explain it. just write both.
