It feels like forever since I’ve posted on here. A lot has has happened since then but I’ll flood everyone’s news feed later with all that. 😎 What I do want to post first since my short hiatus is that we lost my Uncle Tony De Los Santos. We lost him, and it’s very bittersweet. Bittersweet because in losing him, it brought feuding families back together again. I commend my family for coming together. I love you guys! Whether it was a phone call, a text, or an email, we worked together and gave our family member a well deserved, I won’t say “goodbye”, but maybe a “watch over me today, and I’ll see you later” My first service that I’ve done for a family member since starting this job in the funeral service. It was hard, but I knew I had to be there for him and be there for my family because that’s what he would’ve wanted. He was funny, he was straight forward, hardheaded, and we loved him, and he loved us A LOT. Yesterday was two years here at Elmwood Funeral Home. Nothing has made me think about life more than working with death daily. I value my life more. I value other people’s lives more. No matter what kind of service it is. No matter if it’s a small service or a big service, a family lost someone dear to them. From infants, to the elderly, every family has a story and every story is worth hearing about. I get so many questions about this job, “Do you cry?; How do you sleep at night?; Do you have nightmares?; Does it get depressing?; Are you ever scared?” The answers..... -Once -When I clock out for the day, I leave the funeral home work at the funeral home. I can’t let it effect me at my home life. -Never had any nightmares while working here. -It can get depressing. It can take a toll emotionally, physically, and make you feel like your own life isn’t going at the successful pace you would like to go at. -The only thing I fear or get scared of is my own passing.
