I don’t know if you guys know “Notyourtypicalauthor” from ao3 and “NYTA Faker” at Twitter, but he posted a recent work at ao3 and imagine my surprise seeing that he STOLE someone else’s creation…. Like, for real? This is so fucked up, who does that?

The original one is called “Cheating Derek: The one about Adrian Harris by Benn Xavier” and NYTA stiles the whole thing, he just changed names and made it Sterek…. I know lots of people don’t like reading Derek cheating on Stiles, but come on guys that’s not a reason to do something like that, don’t stole someone else’s hard work, it means something for the author, I felt so bad about it, imagine what the author might be feeling to? Imagine putting all your efforts and creativity into something, just for a bad person come and stole it? Painting, writing, sculpting, drawing is a form of art and for many, a scape for the real world…. How can someone do that? Really, this makes me so angry….

Are we just gonna skim over the fact that Tommy was afraid to come out, afraid to say anything because he too has a life and a career that Gerarrd could've easily crumbled by abusing his status. Is it sad and scummy that he didn't at the very least reach out to hen or chimney off work? Yeah, however it's still understandable a bit because as he says in the final frame, he was lying about who he was...after a while of living a lie, you run the risk of becoming that lie. And now look at him, he's grown and he's friends with both chimney and Hen, who both wouldn't just accept a run of the mill apology if they didn't think the person deserved it earned their forgiveness. And personally I think Tommy's arc is one of the best arcs on a TV show cause it shows true natural growth of a character and self discovery.

But at the end of the day

It’s older then you are, it’s older then I am. The leather community is responsible for pride. Leather daddies were the ones chasing away cops when they tried to arrest us for being queer in public back when Pride Parades were illegal in the US. They are still the ones chasing away cops and corporations from smaller pride events and those that aren’t sanctioned by Wells Fargo. The leather community is essential to the queer community and has a long and rich history.

Please fuck off if you’re not going to learn the actual history of pride.

Just because you don’t know the history, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Be humble, and always assume you have more to learn. Hatred, and outright dismissal of communities you know nothing about, is the most aggressively anti-LGBT thing I can imagine.

Do you have any. Any idea. Any god damn clue. How kink intersects with LGBT and queer community. Queer history. Do you know why the community pushed for, and against, closing the bathhouses during the 80s? Do you know who organized awareness campaigns about HIV, even way back when it was still called GIRD. Do you know who created the safe sex pamphlets, the classes, who pushed for disclosing your health history to partners, who distributed contraceptives and condoms and dental dams at parties and meetings and baths? Do you even know where the safe sex education we have now comes from? Do you know where a bulk of the language about consent came from? Do you have any good god damn idea what the kink communities have done for us, and continue to do for us?

That being said the leather community is one of the founding communities of the queer and LGBT communities. Kink is one of the largest cornerstones within the queer community and to show them such disrespect by saying their flag doesn't mean anything and shouldn't mean anything is baffling.
