I feel like I need to share this because idk if Europeans are familiar with the presence of Aldi in the US, but at least especially in my area they’ve been growing a lot recently. Like Aldi bought out some local failing grocery chains where I live (Louisiana) and have opened Aldis in all these somewhat rural communities and small towns, which for the record I’m fine with
But as a result of this they are advertising a lot more in my area and also in many cases, the people in these areas have never been confronted with Aldi or any European grocery store. So the ads that Aldi is pushing out to its new US customer base feature a cowboy shopping at Aldi who is explaining to new Aldi customers how Aldi works. Like this cowboy is explaining you gotta put a quarter in the shopping cart and why there are very little name brands. A cowboy is how they want to reach their American customer base. They gave us a cowboy
Here he is, the Aldi Cowboy
tbh that is on us Germans. If you ask most Germans who are not constantly flooded with actual American culture, but only know it from TV and movies, they will put a cliché US American in a cowboy hat, give him a mustache, and hand him a gun. He also might drive an insanely big car. But yeah, cowboy very much is what many think off, when someone asks them to describe a US American.
alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!

[Video description: Gritty is turning the crank on a flagpole to raise the Progress Pride Flag. He gesticulates angrily that the flag is not blowing in the wind, then gestures offscreen. The flag begins blowing. As Gritty begins raising the flag more, the camera pans out to show a man in a suit and sunglasses, looking like a stern Secret Service agent, is holding a leafblower that points at the flag. End description.]
Probably the most random post you’ll see today.
Udder cream, or udder ointment, has been the go-to cream for dry skin in Denmark for decades. If anything it’s seen as a bit old fashioned largely due to the name (Kopattesalve for my fellow Danes).
I didn’t even consider the history behind the cream (which should’ve been pretty obvious with a name like that) until I randomly stumbled across an English-speaking video where they talked about how, yeah, it seems a bit weird but it doesn’t just work on cows’ udders but on people’s hands too!
And yes, it very much work on people too unless you’re allergic to the ingredients. If you have dry skin you should definitely try it 👍
In Germany we use Horse salve for bone bruises and other stuff like that. It can be bought in normal drugstore and still has a horse on it.
Why not use a thing meant for animals if it works just as well on us? Honestly, even better most of the time, than the stuff sold solely for humans.

im really not trying to be mean here but this one tag from a reblog just so colossally missed the point i cant let it go unacknowledged
the whole message of this post is that the clothes are being made regardless of whether anybody is going to be purchasing them. they’re made in sweatshops, shipped to the other side of the globe, put on racks in thousands of stores, and whatever doesn’t sell is dumped in the fucking desert to make room on those racks for the next shipment.
“buy secondhand only” in response to this is such an egregious misunderstanding and it’s doing the exact fucking thing that is implicitly being criticized by this tweet, which is that individual consumer choices are totally disconnected from the global production of consumer goods and therefore moralizing about making the Correct choices and imploring people to go to fucking goodwill instead of tj maxx is meaningless
Slave labor and borderline slave labor allow cheap junk to be made for so little that some companies can make up for the loss several times over by claiming it on insurance, getting government subsidies, or even selling certain things as scrap or filler to other industries. Companies are so frequently part of some vast network of brands owned by the same entity that they can waste a billion dollars without batting an eye. Just saturating a market with *your* unsellable shit can be seen as advantageous if it helps push out a competitor. Someone buying one new pair of shoes for $20 can mean they just covered the manufacturing cost for 500 pairs. Passive boycotting isn’t going to work ever again at this point. The only ways any of this can change will unfortunately require vastly, vastly more work from more people than just telling Twitter to stop buying pants or switching a fast food chain to paper straws.
I mentioned before that when people say they don’t dream at all genuinely confuse me. And the most common style of comment I hear about other people’s dreams are so confusing to me:
“I had this amazing dream where I was flying,” and when I ask what happened after that, there isn’t an after that. The entire dream was just the feeling of flying.
Meanwhile my brain is out here writing an entire feature film overnight.
My sister told me that she rarely dreams (if ever). She said if she had the crazy dreams I had, she would go insane. My wife doesn’t get it either. I have never met a person who has had complex ones like me.
Can anyone relate?
you people can't even boycott chick-fil-a.
you have this superpower! BUT you have this side-effect
is it worth it?
yes!!
the side effect is bad but ITS WORTH IT
meh it's okay
the side effect makes it unusable/not worth it
Results/option I didn't think of
i like how we all ignore that soldier / poet / king is probably supposed to all be descriptors for jesus christ and we're all just like this is my 3 blokes from the last television show i watched

Colonizers think “land back” is gonna look like mass-slaughter and expulsion bc thats what they did to us, sorta like how a cheater is always the most paranoid/insecure about their partner being potentially unfaithful. It’s pure projection.
