I've always been disgusted by this scene, or other scenes of female robots getting brutalized (LoveDeathRobots etc), but I took it as "oh the disgusting artists wanted to show a human woman being beaten or raped directly but can't, so they made her a robot and they think that makes it okay. That they can get away with it this way. But it's not okay! I hate watching this!" Like I was ONLY thinking of it in the meta sense of the people making this. Its actually my least favorite science fiction trope because I assume the worst intentions of the authors every time.

But in the narrative of the story... yeah, its obvious a trans allegory. And I should have realized the artists here aren't gross misogynists considering its the friggin Wachowskys.

we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
