How to watch stranger things:
In this post I'll call people out for not watching stranger things the right way and explain them how to watch it the way the show wants them to.โ โ
(I've explained this post once before in a comment, but I'd like to describe it better)
First off: What is Stranger Things?
A TV-Show especially for everyone.
For the general audience
For the 80s fans
For the nerds
How could that be possible? It is possible because everything in the show has a tripple meaning.
For the general audience we can see a thrilling, sad, humorous and dramatic Story about the small town Hawkins and the people who live there, struggling and dealing with the alternate Dimension called 'Upside Down' and the weird, immoral experiments on children with psychotic powers.
For the 80s fans we can see a storyline setting place in a small town in Indiana in the 80s. A nostalgic journey back in time to childhood for the kids of the eighties, but also a revealing and fascinating insight for the latest generations. The plots, specifically inspired by eighties films, bring back so many memories.
For the nerds we can see the hints about future seasons (new Monsters, Deaths and much more). The Charakter developments are explained due to parallel scenes and subtexts. The detail-orientated costume designers, directors, set designers are giving us hints like a 'Hide & Seek' game.
BUT...what if you put them together?
Stranger Things:
A show in a show in a show
Stranger things is actually a game with 3 levels
Level watch the show and get to know the plot and characters
Level Try to compare scenes to 80s movies and understand what they mean to tell us
Level put 1&2 together; find the missing hints about future events; get the hints about the personalities of the characters (protagonists & antagonists) and try to empathize with them (try to understand what they were thinking in situations)
I keep hearing people say certain things that just don't make sense. If you don't play the โgameโ Stranger Things to the end or deviate from the manual, there are always irrational statements.
As a Byler truther I am very sad and i kinda feel bad for the Mileven shippers, because they don't get the chance or don't want to get the chance to analyse and find out the hints about Mike (-and Will). And they also miss the very important hints for other characters and the future seasons.
