Because we were talking about Genesis last week and I'm slowly getting through my Crisis Core replay in preparation for Revelations here's a thing of Genesis and Cloud talking.
They do kind of wonder over a couple topics without going into any indebth but that feels right for their level of relationship at this point and also the kinds of people they are.

It’s a bit surreal for Cloud – watching the Angeal Hewley with the triplets. One of the first of the First Class SOLDIERs and a man respected by all in both SOLDIER and the infantry, up until his defection, now playing with Cloud’s children.
He’s doing pretty well as well considering the three had earned the nickname ‘terror triplets’, something even Cloud can admit isn’t exactly undeserved. Yet Angeal seems to be able to keep them distracted from their near constant need to be with Cloud. Allowing the curious toddlers to climb over him and gently throwing them down into the soft grass bordering Aerith’s flowerbed in her church much to their glee.
“My mate was destined to be a father for as long as I can remember, always good with children and our subordinates.” Genesis Rhapsodos says, appearing in Cloud’s periphery, his approach unheard even to Cloud’s enhanced senses. A tilt of his head all the acknowledgement he gives to Cloud’s surprise, his attention back on Angeal and the boys. “It is a shame the degradation stole from me my heats and with it any chance of giving him a child of our own. If there ever even was one.”
Cloud cannot help but feel on-edge from the bitterness in Genesis’ tone despite knowing it is not aimed at him. There had been more than the fair share of collateral damage when Genesis had defected from Shinra before leaving the continent to apparently find his cure. Sephiroth and Zack may be convinced that the two are just here to settle the record against Shinra but it is hard to want to take the chance when Cloud’s children are within striking range should things turn bad. Genesis’ ire at Sephiroth for not having gone with them plain for anyone to see.
“I wouldn’t say no to an end to heats,” Cloud replies. He doesn’t know what Genesis’ were like but his own had become torturous after what Hojo had done to him. So much so he had convinced Sephiroth to let them have another child despite already having four just so Cloud could have a break from them.
Genesis gives a small smile at it.
“Infinite in mystery is the gift of the goddess,” he quotes. Cloud is getting used to that. “I will admit that heats are one of those mysteries I do not understand. Cursed things that bring forth the blessing of new life.”
Genesis shakes his head.
“I am glad to be done with them. But I am sorry that it means my mate will never get the opportunity to experience fathering children of his own.”
“Are you worried he will leave you?” Cloud doesn’t know where the question came from or why he feels he can ask it. He’s known Genesis for little more than a week and still is not sure where he stands with SOLDIER’s sole omega.
“No. Angeal is loyal,” Genesis says, his eyes shutting from the sharp smile that comes across his face. “It is a fault of his, but one I have taken advantage of many times. Even if he were not, he would not pass our curse onto a child. We will end both our lines and the sins that made us come to be.”
Cloud doesn’t know what to say to that. Sephiroth clearly did not share the same belief as his two old friends. He had been surprised about Cloud’s pregnancy with Prompto but had never been unhappy with it. And Cloud had not known how deep the modifications ran until only after he had conceived the current pregnancy.
Would he have made a different choice had he known earlier? It doesn’t matter really, they can’t go back and change things.
“At least my mate had the puppy,” Genesis says, either unknowing or uncaring to Cloud’s own dwellings. “And your children of course. I would apologise for our intrusion into your lives but it is clear you could use all the additional hands you can get.”
“We are fine.” Cloud can’t help but bristle at the implication of the statement. They had been the ones to save Midgar and Gaia from the Weapons. Had taken down Hojo and all the networks and webs he had built. Not Angeal and Genesis who had only shown up now that there was blood to let from those still alive.
Genesis gives a hum in agreement.
“Yes, but, you won’t say no to the help either I’m sure.”

Just imagine Sephiroth giving his usual demonstrations of affection to Angeal, Genesis, or Zack and Cloud sees it and gets annoyed lol
I do think it's a bit hard for Cloud to get too annoyed considering
Cloud's basically in a platonic polycule with Zack-Tifa-Aerith.
While yes Sephiroth will also effectively (either actually or verbally) swat at Angeal, Genesis and Zack in a show of affection it's nowhere near to the same level as he does Cloud.
As soon as Cloud enters the space all even if Sephiroth had been focused on someone else all his attention immediately turns to Cloud and all his effort goes to getting and maintaining Cloud's attention on him.
It's kind of nice to see Sephiroth have relationships with other people that are warm and comfortable enough that he will do the similar affection-annoyance/swat with them rather than just being very awkward and Controlled in every social interaction.
Honestly one of the biggest strains in their relationship is that Sephiroth becomes like all-incompossing obsessed and possessive of Cloud and Cloud likes his personal space and generally space alone for as much time as he can get it. So Sephiroth having someone else to go be with is a good thing for Cloud because it means he gets a bit of that space of his own back.
Plus he knows Sephiroth is always going to come back to him. He couldn't get rid of him if he tried.
Cloud acts all grumpy and bitter when Sephiroth is around, but what’s he really like when they’re alone? I think if anyone from Avalanche ever saw him, he’d never find peace again
I know I said it before (and will say it many more times again) but I do believe Cloud is very cat-like in his affection where his favourite way of bonding is just being in the same room as the person he cares about either just hanging out or doing his own thing. So that's definitively still a thing with Sephiroth when they are alone.
Which side note Sephiroth is also very cat-like in his affection and does definitively have a lot of just co-habitating the same space as love but he also has the "show my love by batting at and generally annoying the other person" thing as well. And Cloud is almost the sole recipient of the secondary form of affection (although I'd argue you see it a bit with Genesis and Angeal in the canon and possibly Zack even if it's a lot more reserved version).
Anyway, back to Cloud. He's a lot more allowing to Sephiroth when they're alone. He lets Sephiroth paw and be overly touchy with him and leans into it instead of batting it off or grubling. I don't think he's one to initiate things a lot but that's because he doesn't have to be Sephiroth is initiating stuff far more than Cloud would himself but if Sephiroth hasn't Cloud just kind of moves himself closer until Sephiroth (very happily) does.
Avalanche would absolutely tease Cloud to no end if they saw how he is with Sephiroth while alone. So Cloud makes damn sure nobody sees it.
i saw a post earlier today and now i can’t find it but someone was like the only reason i get through studying is by saying “let’s go steal a grade” where they just imagine they’re doing research for a leverage con and they have to know all the information to pull it off successfully. I think we in the A:TLA fandom have missed the absolute potential of the fact that Ozai Firelord is canonically a fucking idiot. I mean the dude's straight up stupid. And I want to be very clear that this isn't a plot hole, this isn't a flaw in the show, this is a fantastic and super realistic element that honestly enhances my enjoyment of it! Dictators are often stupid and breed a culture of cronyism-over-competence. Any similarities with real world leaders, dead or alive, are coincidental yet inevitable.
What do I mean?
Well, let's take the Drill. When faced with the problem of Big Wall, Ozai's Fire Nation comes up with Big Drill. One singular Big Drill. Which, as anyone except an idiot could have predicted, immediately breaks down and accomplishes nothing. And if the Fire Nation had made it past the wall, then they would have been fighting through a narrow opening against people who can hurl long distance rocks! Which, if your face or body is vulnerable to high velocity rocks, is a bad thing for you and also for the battle.
Not to mention the resource cost of that thing! It's so insanely gigantic, it must have cost the Fire Nation the equivalent of trillions. For ONE drill. Not ten smaller drills. Just ONE drill. (Fanfic fuel: how much did Ba Sing Se profit off of stripping that drill for parts? Did they reverse engineer it? Did Long Feng keep that for himself?)
And you might be thinking, fairly, that it was War Minister Qin who came up with the drill and you'd be right, but it's Ozai who's approving all this shit. Instead of doing the reasonable thing and asking Qin if he et the whole edible, or even the in-character thing of burning him to death, Ozai just goes... big drill. Makes sense. We should have the biggest drill, because we are the biggest nation. Drill, baby, drill. sorry
It's not the first time, either! He also approves Zhao's invasion of the North Pole, apparently just because Zhao is good at kissing ass and hates Zuko? I couldn't tell you what merits Zhao has. We do not see him lead a single successful mission. The closest he comes is Pohuai, and even then its the Yuyan archers who do most of the work. (My longstanding headcanon is that the reason we don't see the Yuyan archers again is because Zhao blamed the whole thing on them and they were disbanded. This is great fic fuel for displaced Yuyan archers just, wandering around, being elite.)
He approved a massive naval invasion of the North Pole, surrounded by and made of water and ice, inhabited by people who bend water. A nation that was, by its own choice, completely out of the war.
Every time we see Ozai doing something, it's something stupid. Like disfiguring and banishing his firstborn child in a culture that has primogeniture. And then (once he's done pissing away a massive fleet of ships) he does the logical thing and sends his only other heir to bring his first heir back - even though his first heir would have been willing to return with a simple invitation. Like he could have sent a letter saying "dear son come home miss u pick up 200 000 tons of steel qin wants 2 build a drill lol", and Zuko would have come. (Okay, he did have a valid reason for having Zuko escorted, since he thought Iroh was a traitor, but there's absolutely NO reason to risk Azula. Why not send Combustion Man? It's the luckiest stroke of luck ever that Azula is 100 times more competent than her dad.)
Of course, a dictator(-wannabe) sending his daughter on high-level diplomatic missions is pure fiction. Nobody would do that.
The best part of this is that it's entirely realistic and in-character. I could absolutely imagine Ozai purging all of his competent admirals and generals, and then promoting brownnoses like Zhao and crackpots like Qin, because they promised him glorious destinies and secret knowledge of Big Drill.
I also really, really want a scene of Zuko and Azula realizing that their father is a fucking idiot.
I would also like to note that all this stupid shit happens after Iroh leaves with Zuko. So, here's a headcanon: the only reason the Fire Nation didn't immediately implode when Ozai took the throne and purged everyone is because of Iroh. Iroh leaving with Zuko doomed Ozai. It's also a nice little drop of complexity in Iroh's character - he knew he was single-handedly keeping the Fire Nation afloat, yet he only left when Zuko did. Did he plan for Zuko to take the throne from the start? What was his plan before Aang showed up? Did he not intervene in the Agni Kai because he was afraid, or because he knew that Ozai was making a huge mistake and didn't want to interrupt? Give me chessmaster Iroh please.
