South Park AU Lore! AKA: Swap Park
Swap Park is, in essence, South Park if male/female roles in the world's society were reversed. It also has some altered biology to allow this to be the case, which will be explained in the post.
Why? (What Was I Thinking?)
My intense fear of pregnant women + My love of biology and social psychology + My love of AUs = All of my AUs following a world where gender roles, stereotypes are swapped and biology is just different enough to make males get pregnant instead of females while still following the technical definition of a biological male/female (the ability to produce sperm and eggs respectively).
OR
Pregnant women have always scared me, so a major part of all of my AUs is that men handle pregnancy/menstruation (hah, men-struation.)
How? (The Biology Part)
This biology will not be perfectly accurate, there's only so much sense you can keep when making mpreg logical.
Male Biology:
Males have uteruses and vaginas, which are identical to that of a real-world female. However, they do not produce eggs as egg production is a big thing in what defines a biological female.
They produce sperm, but not in the traditional looking sense. Sperm cells look similar to real-wolrld egg cells on the outside as they do not have tails since they do not need to travel very far outside the ovary. However, the main structure inside the sperm cell that would normally fuse with the egg has roughly the same properties to real-world sperm.
Males have breasts and produce milk and sport broader, wider hips than in-universe females the same way real-world females normally would.
Female Biology:
Females have penises, which are indentical to that of a real-world male. However, they do not produce sperm as, again, sperm production is a big thing in what defines a biological male.
They produce eggs, but yet again, not in the tradtional looking sense. Egg cells look very similar to real-world egg cells, except they have cilia (tiny little hairs) that help them navigate through semen and through the male uterus.
Females do not have visible breasts as they do not produce milk and lack the wider, notable curves that real-world females have. They are taller and broader than males on average and have narrower pelvises.
What Does This Mean? (Society)
Gender stereotypes are essentially reversed. Humans are still human and will still do what they do best - dumb things down into stereotypes to make life "easier" to make sense of.
Some common examples of how this would be in the AU is:
-Men are weak
-Women have to be strong
-Girls are better at sports than boys
-Men are better staying at home
-Women should be the breadwinner
-Crying makes a woman weak
-Boys are sensitive
-Boys like shopping and clothes
-Girls shouldn't wear skirts, heels or dresses
Moreover, a lot of crime based statistics would change too. Real-world crimes mainly perpatrated by males (ie, sexual violence, domestic abuse, general assault, murder) would instead be mainly comitted by females in this AU.
What Does This Mean? (Characters)
Obviously, a lot of characters will have to change in some way to make this work. However, I do not wish to fundamentaly change the core traits of characters.
I try my best to make sure that the characters still have their personalities, which I fortunately do not find particularly difficult to do.
Despite this, some characters that rely heavily on real-world gender norms will change significantly. But, those characters aren't especially important in the AU.
Final Words (For Now)
I love recieveing questions and asks about my AUs, even if I doubt my AU will attract much outside attention. I consider this a fairly unique concept, so hopefully that will help it gain some attraction.
