ppl always glaze over the friendship in SoN, when in fact, THEY ARE THE BLUEPRINT.

ugh percy and hazel especially pull at my heart in a way i didn't think possible. THEYRE SO SIBLINGS

percy lit immediately looks at hazel and decides “yep, little sister shaped” and hazel accepts and it just stays that way

these scenes are specifically my favorite they make me want to cry

"we're😭a😭family😭now,😭aren't😭we😭frank?" STOP IT OMG. and "Hazel and Frank were the bright spots." ik i lit put the excerpts right there but i love them so much i just had to reiterate

it’s actually dangerous to even mention SoN near me bc of how insanely passionate i am about this dam(ha) book 

something that stands out to me is just how intimate they are with each other, not only in sweet actions or words, but the very experiences—even if mundane—are highlighted because of how strong their bond is

percy and hazel are the only ppl who initially knew about frank’s curse, hazel and frank are the only ppl who initially welcome percy to camp jupiter, and frank and percy are the only ppl who initially knew about hazel’s past—not to mention how when they found out, they tossed everything out the window and went “we don’t care, we love you.” 

also frank and percy literally being in awe of each other the entire book, frank not understanding how someone as cool as percy could be jealous of him, (bc of his shape shifting) and percy not understanding how someone as cool as frank could ever think less of themself

AND HOW THEYRE BOTH SO PROUD TO BE RELATED 😭😭😭

they just mesh so well it makes my heart hurt

i can’t remember where but there’s literally a scene where hazels shivering and frank contemplates burning his LIFE SOURCE WOOD TO MAKE HER WARM.

they're all so protective of each other i want to cry

and what if i said ppl forget about them and focus on percy+jason or others bc hazel is black and frank is chinese

moral of the story is SoN is peak, best book in the series, percy hazel frank trio is peak i am right u all are wrong end scene.

also pay no mind to the surplus of hearts in my annotations, i love this book and these characters and i think i've made that very evident
