bro today in claass i was talking to someone (call em person 1) and then there was person 2 next to them.
2 was the one who introduced me to the fact that google was about to get rid of their algorithmn and shit (this was before it happened i think). so of course, i made an effort to leave google and everything because of the wisdom of this person. so when 1 said 'oh everything on google is ai these days', i suggested 'hey why dont you leave google' and 2 was like well you can always use '____' (a search engine that they used on google as just an alternative to searching while still actively doing everything on google- also the search engine also used ai anyway) so i was like 'yeah but your still on google though, i'd reccomend switching to another browser entirely'. so that got 2 - imo- pissed.
2 eas like 'well its not like you can avoid google fully'. like sure given conditions i cant, but like you can make an effort to minimise its use? and then they just got really mean about it and even moved seats. then 1 was looking for alternatives for something else so i whipped up something i heard was good and from the back of the classroom 2 yells 'you do know that they have a partnership with google?'. i genuinely did not know so i was like 'oh! thanks for letting me know' and went on with my life. afterwards, near the end of class i was looking out the back window, to see if people were out of classes yet and made eye contact with 2 so yeah i smiled (btw them being pissed about this was a later realisation i thought it was chill until this moment) and then they stopped looking at me and genuinely rolled their eyes and said something under their breath.

i get so emotional every time i think about fanfic culture. it's just so beautiful that people are writing and anonymously posting these thousand-word stories about characters we all love and not even getting any money or public fame from it. it's literally just for the love of the game.
