no, paralysis is long term and has more complications than just immobilization. paralysis usually comes with things like bladder and bowel issues, risk of autonomic dysreflexia (a complication of SCIs that can kill you long after the injury), long term problems like risk pressure sores, requirement of mobility aids and all that entails, etc.

oh hey I have a thing like that last one that I like to do sometimes, but I do it lying down in bed. it's a very satisfying pop/shift in my hips/lower back, but doesn't always work. maybe I will try his version and see if it is more effective for me

the thing they dont tell you about a progressive condition is that youre constantly grieving the same thing over & over because it KEEPS GETTING WORSE

Currently trying to apply for disability allowance and one question was ‘do you struggle with showering’ and I was getting a friend to help me and I said to them ‘no cause I sit down while doing my hair and I always shower at night so I can lie down after so it doesn’t affect me too much’ and they said ‘but if you showered during the day?’ and I said ‘oh. Yeah I wouldn’t be able to function for 3+ hours.’ it’s just so funny to realise what things are so engrained in my day that I don’t even know they’re not normal, like of course I can’t shower during the day, that’s fine?
