Itâs gonna happen, happen sometime.
#Harry high af Potter
Ok but someone tell me why Harry didnât grow up to be the best Defense Against Dark Arts professor Hogwarts has ever known
RIGHT??? what is up with this he becomes an auror crap?? Harry would have loved being a teacher and watching his students improve throughout the years. Revamping the curriculum because if he could teach kids as a child himself how to cast a patronus, perhaps everything they think of as only NEWTs levels and beyond really just werenât taught well before.Â
Making him become an auror just makes him continue the fight he was forced into as a child and didnât enjoy, Harry enjoyed teaching the DA. Why wouldnât he chase after doing something he loves with his life????? And then heâd be able to train the next generation to make sure that they can protect the world, too.Â
thisthisthisthisthis
YES. I can just picture Professors Potter and Longbottom joking about students and the other teachers during meals, playing mini pranks on Headmistress McGonagall, whoâd purse her lips and remind them that they were adults, then look away before they could catch the twinkle in her eye. All the students would either have a massive crush on them or admire them or both. Harry is the only teacher capable of taming Teddy (who became known as the prank king, comparable to the Weasleyâs twins) and eventually James, Al, and Lily. He develops connections with each of his students and teaches them according to the way heâs noticed they learn best and his classroom becomes a usual hangout for students, as heâs always got food and a âlame dad jokeâ that everyone secretly loves.
I could go on, but I have to stop myself before I get too into this.
Okay, this now officially drives me nuts because this would have made SO MUCH SENSE. And not only because of Harryâs temperament. Yes, he would have LOVED teaching DADA, but do you know who else wanted to teach DADA? Tom Riddle. Voldemort cursed the position so no one could stay for over a year, and Rowling said that the curse broke upon his death. It would have brought the Prophecyâs plot line to full circle, because it shouldnât have been anyone other than Harry who became the first un-cursed DADA professor. It would have been just another part Harry vanquished.
And how important would it be to the students as well, and to him being able to progress with a comfortable, normal life? Because every witch/ wizard in the UK  goes through Hogwarts. The first year after the war, he starts, and the students all come home at Christmas or in the summer and their parents are all âWOW youâve been taught by HARRY POTTER what was he like?â And all these students who are totally over it already like âI donât know, just⊠heâs just Professor Potter. Heâs just Harry. He makes shit jokes and hands out chocolate in lessons. Heâs just a really great guy.â And over the years it stops being people yelling âThe Chosen Oneâ or âThe Boy Who Livedâ in the streets. He goes in to Diagon Alley with his family and everyoneâs like âOh my god, Sir! Hi! Look, itâs Professor Potter!â And no-one wants to know how it felt to die or what vanquishing Voldemort was like- they want to tell him how their doing, and chat with him about how they want to go into the Aurors or Dragon taming, or what theyâre doing now. They want one of their favourite teachers to meet their kids, reminisce about old lessons.
But of course, everyone still knows itâs Harry Potter. And it becomes like a thing among the students, whenever anyone feels low on confidence or like theyâll never achieve things in life, and someoneâll cut in like âOf course you can. Harry defeated the greatest Dark Wizard in memory, and heâs a massive dork whoâs a little bit frightened of his wife and kids, still trips over the trick step, didnât get the date he wanted to the Yule Ball and spills pumpkin juice all over his robes regularly. Heâs human just like you, and if he could do that, you can sure as hell make the DMLE if thatâs what you want.â
Like Harry and Neville being constant reminders to all their students that heroes are just people- just real, normal, faulty people. (And then can we also have Ginny Weasley, taking some time off from playing professional Quidditch so she comes to do a few years as the flying coach. And her first year Harry goes down to the pitch with a few of the 7th years he has under his wing, and Ginny being, as always, vaguely terrifying but in an incredibly attractive way. And all these 7th years just gaping at her like âWoah. You are married to her?!â And Harry just massively smug like âYeah, I know right?â)
So Iâm totally gonna make everyone sad now. Each heâll teach some students during the first year, specially the third-year class he would remember Remus and how he was a good teacher. Like Remus would be his role model
But have you considered Professor Potter visiting Professor Hagrid each and every day for tea? (And bringing a group of good-hearted students with him?)
Or Professor Potter talking to Professor Longbottom and students staring at them starstruck.Â
And Voldemort had wanted to become the DADA teacher and so by Harry getting the post insteead itâs like he defeated Voldemort all over again in a different way.
Professor Potter with his glasses askew, the same shape as always because he doesnât care enough to get non-round ones until Ginny just switches them in his sleep. A second year bringing this to his attention, three weeks later.
Professor Potter going up to the Headmistressâs office to chat with Phineas, Snape, and Dumbledore.
Professor Potter meeting Aberforth Dumbledore for meals every so often as a way to say thank you for his help that dreadful year, bringing a better reputation to the Hogâs Head inadvertantly, and learning more about Headmaster Dumbledore.
Professor Potter declining to be Headmaster, instead nominating Professor Longbottom.
Professor Potter, walking down the hall past Moaning Myrtleâs bathroom, still glancing out of the corner of his eye for the basilisk, but heâs not aggravating his PTSD by hunting the real thing out in the field as an Auror.
Professor Potter taking tea in the Hogwarts kitches with Kreacher and Winky, and sharing what he learns of elf-lore and customs with Hermione before she moves out of the DRCMC.
Professor Potter.

Kreacherâs Tale: âMaster Regulus was worried, very worried. Master Regulus told Kreacher to stay hidden and not to leave the house. And then⊠it was a little while laterâŠMaster Regulus came to find Kreacher in his cupboard one night, and Master Regulus was strange, not as he usually was, disturbed in his mindâŠKreacher could tellâŠand he asked Kreacher to take him to the cave, the cave where Kreacher had gone with the Dark Lord.â (âŠ) âAnd he ordered â Kreacher to leave â without him. And he told Kreacher â to go home â and never to tell my Mistress â what he had done â but to destroy â the first locket. And he drank â all the potion â and Kreacher swapped the lockets â and watched⊠as Master Regulus⊠was dragged beneath the waterâŠ.â (Tom Sturridge as Regulus Black)
No, thank YOU. (via jk_rowling)
The Harry Potter Series: Mr and Mrs Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. They were the last people youâd expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious, because they just didnât hold with such nonsense.
if you ever feel left out just remember that you werenât the fifth gryffindor guy in the maraudersâ dormitory
I donât know if the timeline works even a little bit but my headcanon was always that that fifth dude was Kingsley Shacklebolt and that he immediately made a conscious decision to stay the hell away from whatever those four idiots were up to and everyone was like âYeah, good kid, studies hard, probably gonna be Minister one day if he manages to last his entire school career without committing four murdersâ.
Kingley Shacklebolt is probably the best roommate ever. The reason he never gets mentioned as the fifth is because he doesnât ask questions. The other five start disappearing all night every full moon during fifth year? He doesnât care and doesnât want to know. Walked in to find Sirius talking to a fucking deer in the dorm like it was James? Just keep moving and donât make eye contact. James, Sirius and Peter leaving shit all over the floor? Combine forces with Remus to politely yet firmly remind them that weâre not living in a goddamn barn and your dirty underwear shouldnât spend three weeks straight on the floor James.
Kingsley was, naturally, invited to the Potter-Evans wedding. The invitation was accompanied with a formal apology for the Everything, signed by the Marauders. Enclosed was a little trophy, with the plaque reading âbest roomie everâ
It may or may not permanently live on his mantle. Kingsley Shacklebolt does not inform Harry Potter of any of this. He has enough people that knew his parents, Kingsleyâs not going to make it weird. Keep moving and donât make eye contact. Besides, he already gave copies of all his pictures of them to Hagrid to go into a photo album for Harry back in first year.
Hagrid going back to Hogwarts after the war, and Harry taking him to Diagon Alley to return the favor :)

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) dir. Alfonso CuarĂłn was the most cinematically shot and thematically complex out of all the Harry Potter films, and Iâm ready to fight on this.Â
If you want to know what a manâs like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.

what i mean when i call a character perfect is âwow look at how flawed you are, how broken and three dimensional and well written. look how much of a disaster you are and how you are constantly torn between right and wrong and you make so many mistakes along the way wow look how human you areâ
so basically when i say they are perfect what i mean is thank god they aren'tÂ
a collection of ginny weasleyâs best moments, because the movies butchered her character so badly i think we all need a reminder of how amazing she is
âfamous harry potter,â said malfoy. âcanât even go into a bookshop without making the front page.â âleave him alone, he didnât want all that!â (cos, pg 61)
his eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad, his hair is as dark as a blackboard, i wish he was mine, heâs really divine, the hero who conquered the dark lord (cos, pg 238)Â this is literally the cutest thing can you imagine little 11 year old ginny writing this
âso i made ginny write her own farewell on the wall and come down here to wait. she struggled and cried and became very boringâ (cos, pg 313)
âoh, that,â said ginny, giggling. âwell - percys got a girlfriend.â âŠÂ âitâs that ravenclaw prefect, penelope clearwater,â said ginny. âthatâs who he was writing to all last summer, heâs been meeting her all over the school in secret. i walked in on them kissing in an empty classroom one day.â (cos, pg 341)
âah, thereâs penelope!â said percy, smoothing his hair and going pink again. ginny caught harryâs eye, and they both turned away to hide their laughter as percy strode over to a girl with long, curly hair, walking with his chest thrown out so she couldnât miss his shiny badge. (poa, pg 71)
âgo away, ginny,â said ron. âoh, thatâs nice,â said ginny huffily, and she stalked off. (poa, pg 74)
âer - why are you calling that owl pig?â harry asked ron. âbecause heâs being stupid,â said ginny. âits proper name is pigwidgeon.â (gof, pg 52)
âshe just didnât want to go with neville⊠i mean, who would?â âdonât!â said ginny, annoyed. âdonât laugh -â (gof, pg 399)
âfine! ginny - BED!â ginny did not go quietly. they could hear her raging and storming at her mother all the way up the stairs⊠(ootp, pg 91)
âyeah, size is no guarantee of power,â said george. âlook at ginny.ââŠÂ âyouâve never been on the receiving end of one of her bat-bogey hexes, have you?â (ootp, pg 100)
âdonât call her a mudblood!â said ron and ginny together, very angrily (ootp, pg 108)
mrs. weasley was wiping her face on an apron, and fred, george, and ginny were doing a kind of war dance to a chant that went âhe got off, he got off, he got off -â (ootp, pg 156)
âiâm nobody,â said neville hurriedly. âno youâre not,â said ginny sharply. (ootp, pg 186)
âhe [hagrid] isnât a very good teacher, is he?â âyes, he is!â said harry, ron, and ginny angrily. (ootp, pg 200)
âhem hem,â said ginny in such a good imitation of professor umbridge that several people looked around in alarm and then laughed. âwerenât we trying to decide how often weâre going to meet and get defense lessons?â (ootp, pg 345)
âyeah, the d.a.âs good,â said ginny. âonly, letâs make it stand for dumbledoreâs army because thatâs the ministryâs worst fear, isnât it?â  (ootp, pg 392)
ginny was teamed with michael corner; she was doing very well⊠(ootp, pg 394)
âweâve got another seeker!⊠ginny weasleyâŠ. sheâs pretty good, actually.â (ootp, pg 453)
âyeah?â growled harry, his hands deep in his pockets as he watched the snow now falling thickly outside. âall been talking about me, have you? well, iâm getting used to itâŠâ âwe wanted to talk to you, harry,â said, ginny, âbut as youâve been hiding every since we got back -,â âi didnât want anyone to talk to me,â said harry, who was feeling more and more nettled. âwell, that was a bit stupid of you,â said ginny angrily, âseeing as you donât know anyone but me whoâs been possessed by you-know-who, and i can tell you how it feels.â harry remained quite still as the impact of these words hit him. then he wheeled around. âi forgot,â he said. âlucky you,â said ginny coolly. (ootp, pg 499)
âcâmon, ginnyâs not bad [at quidditch],â said george fairly, sitting down next to fred. âactually, i dunno how she got so good, seeing how we never let her play with usâŠâ âsheâs been breaking into your broom shed in the garden since the age of six and taking each of your brooms out in turn when you werenât looking,â said hermione from behind her tottering pile of ancient runes books. (ootp, pg 574)
âwell,â said ginny slowlyâŠÂ âif you really want to talk to sirius, i expect we could think of a way to do itâŠâ âcome on,â said harry dully. âwith umbridge policing the fires and reading all our mail?â âthe thing about growing up with fred and george,â said ginny thoughtfully, âis that you sort of start thinking anythingâs possible if youâve got enough nerve.â (ootp, pg 655)
âhi,â said ginny uncertainly. âwe recognized harryâs voice - what are you yelling about?â ânever you mind,â said harry roughly. ginny raised her eyebrows. âthereâs no need to take that tone with me,â she said coolly. âi was only wondering whether i could help.â (ootp, pg 735)
ginny was still trying to stamp on the feet of the sixth-year girl who had both her upper arms in a tight grip. (ootp, pg 744)
âbut ginny was the best, she got malfoy - bat-bogey hex - it was superb, his whole face was covered in the great flapping things.â (ootp, pg 760)
âexcuse me, but i care what happens to sirius as much as you do!â said ginny, her jaw set so that her resemblance to fred and george was suddenly striking. âyouâre too -â harry began. âiâm three years older than you were when you fought you-know-who over the sorcererâs stone,â she said fiercely, âand itâs because of me malfoyâs stuck back in umbridgeâs office with giant flying bogeys attacking him-â (ootp, pg 761)
âokay, fine, itâs your choce,â he said curtly. âbut unless we can find more thestrals youâre not going to be able -â âoh, more of them will come,â said ginny confidently⊠âwhat makes you think that?â âbecause in case you hadnât noticed, you and hermione are both covered in blood,â she said coolly, âand we know hagrid lures thestrals with raw meat, so thatâs probably why these two turned up in the first placeâŠâ (ootp, pg 763)
ânot anymore,â said ginny resolutely. âhe [michael corner] didnât like gryffindor beating ravenclaw at quidditch and got really sulky, so i ditched him and he ran off to comfort cho instead.â (ootp, pg 866)
âwhereas bill and fleur⊠well⊠what have they really got in common? heâs a hard working, down-to-earth sort of person, whereas sheâs -â âa cow,â said ginny, nodding. âbut billâs not that down-to-earth. heâs a curse-breaker, isnât he, he likes a bit of adventure, a bit of glamour⊠i expect thatâs why heâs gone for phlegm.â (hbp, pg 127)
âtonks is okay looking when she isnât doing stupid things to her hair and her nose, but-â âsheâs a damn sight nicer than phlegm,â said ginny. (hbp, pg 129)
the door opened again and mrs. weasley popped her head in. âginny,â she whispered, âcome downstairs and help me with the lunch.â âiâm talking to this lot!â said ginny, outraged. ânow!â said mrs. weasley, and withdrew. âshe only wants me there so she doesnât have to be alone with phlegm!â said ginny crossly. she swung her long red hair around in a very good imitation of fleur and pranced across the room with her arms held aloft like a ballerina. (hbp, pg 130)
ââe is always so thoughtful,â purred fleur adoringly, stroking billâs nose. ginny mimed vomiting into her cereal behind fleur. (hbp, pg 146)
âbut youâre moving through boyfriends a bit fast, arenât you?â ginny turned to look at him, her hands on her hips. there was such a mrs. weasley-ish glare on her face that harry was surprised fred didnât recoil. âitâs none of your business. and iâll thank you,â she said angrily to ron âŠÂ ânot to tell tales about me to these two.â (hbp, pg 163)
âau revoir, âarry,â said fleur throatily, kissing him good-bye. ron hurried forward, looking hopeful, but ginny stuck out her foot and ron fell, sprawling in the dust at fleurâs feet. (hbp, pg 175)
zabini gave a tiny little cough that was clearly supposed to indicate amused skepticism. an angry voice burst out from behind slughorn . âyeah, zabini, because youâre so talented⊠at posingâŠâ (hbp, pg 192)
âthatâs right,â said ginny staunchly. âneville and i were both there too, and all this âchosen oneâ rubbish is just the prophet making things up as usual.â (hbp, pg 193)
âhe saw me hex zacharias smith,â said ginny. âyou remember that idiot from hufflepuff who was in the d.a.? he kept on and on asking about what happened at the ministry and in the end he annoyed me so much i hexed him.â (hbp, pg 195)
after two hours⊠harry had found himself three chasers⊠ginny weasley, who had outflown all the competition and scored seventeen goals to boot. (hbp, pg 292)
âand ginny, donât call ron a prat, youâre not the captain of this team-â âwell, you seemed too busy to call him a prat, and i thought someone should.â (hbp, pg 368)
âi donât want too find my own sister snogging people in public!â âthis was a deserted corridor till you came butting in!â said ginny. (hbp, pg 369)
âright,â said ginny, tossing her long red hair out of her face and glaring at ron, âletâs get this straight once and for all. it is none of your business who i go out with or what i do with them, ron -â âyeah it is!â said ron, just as angrily. âdâyou think i want people saying my sisterâs a-â âa what?â shouted ginny, drawing her wand. âa what, exactly?â âhe doesnât mean anything, ginny -â said harry automaticallyâŠÂ âoh yes he does!â she said, flaring up at harry. âjust because heâs never snogged anyone in his life, just because the best kiss heâs ever had is from our auntie muriel-â âshut your mouth!â bellowed ron, by-passing red and turning maroon. âno, i will not!â yelled ginny, beside herself. âive seen you with phlegm, hoping sheâll kiss you on the cheek every time you see her, itâs pathetic! if you went out and got a bit of snogging done yourself, you wouldnât mind so much that everyone else does it!â âŠÂ âyou donât know what youâre talking about!â ron roaredâŠÂ âjust because i donât do it in public-!â ginny screamed with derisive laughter, trying to push harry out of the way. âbeen kissing pigwidgeon, have you? or have you got a picture of auntie muriel stashed under your pillow?â âŠÂ âharryâs snogged cho chang!â shouted ginny, who sounded close to tears now. âand hermione snogged victor krum, itâs only you who acts like itâs something disgusting, ron, and thatâs because youâve got about as much experience as a twelve year old!â and with that, she stormed away. (hbp, pg 369-371)
⊠ginny having scored four of gryffindorâs six goals⊠(hbp, pg 381)
âginny, whereâre you going?â yelled harry, who had found himself trapped in the midst of a mass midair hug with the rest of the team, but ginny sped right on past them until, with an almightly crash, she collided with the commentatorâs podium. as the crowd shrieked and laughed, the gryffindor team landed beside the wreckage of wood under which zacharias was feebly stirring; harry heard ginny saying blithely to an irate professor mcgonagall, âforgot to brake, professor, sorry.â (hbp, pg 383)
âit looks like heâs [ron] eating her face off, doesnât it?â said ginny dispassionately. âbut i suppose heâs got to refine his technique somehow.â (hbp, pg 387)
âginnyâs been nice, though. she stopped two boys in our transfiguration class calling me âloonyâ the other day-â (hbp, pg 400)
âyou couldâve taken anyone!â said ron in disbelief over dinner. âanyone! and you chose loony lovegood?â âdonât call her that, ron,â snapped ginny. (hbp, pg 401)
âdonât push me, please, dean,â she said, sounding annoyed. âyouâre always doing that, i can get through perfectly well on my ownâŠâ (hbp, pg 611)
there was ginny, running toward him; she had a hard, blazing look in her face as she threw her arms around him. and without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that people were watching, harry kissed her okay not a total ginny moment but take notes @hpdirectors this is how you write a quality kiss (hbp, pg 681)
âyouâd think people had better things to gossip about,â said ginnyâŠÂ âthree dementor attacks in a week, and all romilda vane does is ask me if itâs true youâve got a hippogriff tattooed across your chest.â âŠÂ âwhat did you tell her?â âi told her itâs a hungarian horntail,â said ginny, turning a page of the newspaper idly. âmuch more macho.â âthanks,â said harry, grinning. âand what did you tell her ronâs got?â âa pygmy puff, but i didnât say where.â (hbp, pg 684)
âjust because iâve given my permission doesnât mean i canât withdraw it-â âyour permission,â scoffed ginny. âsince when did you give me permission to do anything?â (hbp, pg 684)
âwe canât be together.â she said, with an oddly twisted smile, âitâs for some stupid, noble reason, isnât it?â âŠÂ âvoldemort uses people his enemies are close to⊠heâll try and get to me through you.â âwhat if i donât care?â said ginny fiercely.  âi care,â said harry. âhow do you think iâd feel if this was your funeral⊠and it was my faultâŠâ âŠ. âi never really gave up on you,â she said. ânot really. i always hoped⊠hermione told me to get on with life, maybe go out with some other people, relax a bit around you, because i never used to be able to talk if you were in the room, remember? and she thought you might take a bit more notice if i was a bit more - myself.â âŠÂ âwell, i canât say im surprised. i knew this would happen in the end. i knew you wouldnât be happy unless you were hunting voldemort. maybe thatâs why i like you so much.â (hbp, pg 822)
âi couldnât think what to get you,â she said. âyou didnât have to get me anything.â âŠÂ âi didnât know what would be useful. nothing too big, because you wouldnât be able to take it with you.â âŠÂ âso then i thought, iâd like you to have something to remember me by, you know, if you meet some veela when youâre off doing whatever youâre doing.â âi think dating opportunities are going to be pretty thin on the ground, to be honest.â âthereâs the silver lining iâve been looking for,â she whispered, and then she was kissing him as she had never kissed him before, and harry was kissing her back, and it was blissful oblivion, better than firewhisky; she was the only real thing in the world, ginny, the feel of her, one hand at her back and one in her long, sweet smelling hair. (dh, pg 99)
