"You were in space?" Despite the fact that her people weren't from earth, Karolina had never left the planet. "What's it like?"

"This isn't going well, is it? Oof." Karolina sighed. "I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Gibborim. My people, that is. Not my name. My name is Karolina."

"C'mon, you haven't heard that sound? Wait, you do have a tik tok, right?---don't tell me you're still on x..."

"High school got a little weird for me. Kinda had no choice but to disconnect for a bit." That was one way of saying my parents were in a cult and killing teenagers, so my friends & I became runaways. "I realized I don't mind not having social media."

"what is that!?"

"I was hoping you could tell me. You didn't do that?"

"Hey--hypothetically speaking, like, unrelated to me--you haven't seen a flying mop come through here have you?" in her own fantasia nightmare Nico tried to spell the damn thing into cleaning her room and while it had worked, now it was wandering around cleaning everywhere. She had to find it before it wound up on a sidewalk downtown and some kid stole it to sell online. Not that a self cleaning mop was particularly dangerous, Nico just didn't love the idea of her magic being passed around like some thrift store find.

"You mean that broom?" Karolina pointed to where it was laying on the floor as she sat up. "The broom that attacked me?"

"...I'm pretty sure you're as far from my type as possible. So, probably not. Maybe you're thinking of a different blonde alien?"

"hi--welcome to the emporium! howcanihelpyou." the last bit rushed out of her. darcy totally hadn't been smoking in the back and barely heard the door open. not at all.

"Hey." Karolina felt like she needed to take a step back and give the woman a second to catch her breath. "I was, um, just gonna look for something for my girlfriend? She's into this." That was a very reductive way to talk about Nico, but Karolina wasn't about to drop the Minoru family history to a stranger.
