I think the best way to start is with actual witch of Illusions and see if Darcy could do any of the spells OR was there a major difference.

Let's start with this line. Creating diversions. Darcy creates at best clones of herself which are meant to confuse. They can't attack nor deal any real damage but they can make one hestitate in attacking her which she uses to her advantage.

That's not illusion but illusion manipulation or even mind manipulation. She doesn't create anything. She creates mirage which we know is:

Witch of darkness could force shadows to create spaces for light to travel through and create something that isn't there. But it's a displaced image of something that exists RIGHT NOW. Like herself.

She can't create image of winx if they are not present. Mirta CAN. Mirta creates a very very believable illusion of winx enough to confuse Stormy. I can bet that if Darcy is a witch of darkness maybe she noticed some indiscretions. or as a witch of mind manipulation who we saw both in S2 in crypt of codex use her magic to sense beings like a pixie:

Created a clone to confuse not to fight with. Her clones at best can create dark clouds or a false copy of her attack. No real power.

Since she can also make illusions from emotions, her powers could be empathic/psychic in nature. Mirta can create shields and summon large beasts, and she can also use her powers to summon projections of people in real-time. Mirta manifests her power into "emo images". Her magic can be either purple or orange in color.

The monster was a SHOCK to Trix which meant Darcy NEVER created one. We see her use magic to make wildlands creatures obey her. MANIPULATE THEM. We see her use her powers to create MIND LINKS. We see her writing on the board in Detention Dimension.

I can promise you she KNEW the ingredients. She can create what her MIND KNOWS OR SAW. She cannot create something that never existed. It might not be even an illusion but a faster way to connect to her memory and draw out what she already memorized onto the board. Meanwhile Mirta cannot do that. She knows spells like any other witch and cannot sense Darcy coming through walls in CT.

Darcy CAN. She is strongly connected to her mind and her Aura. Even in Season 3 Darcy can reshape rock BECAUSE SHE ALREADY SAW VALTOR. SHE CANNOT CREATE SOMETHING OUT OF THIN AIR. SHE NEEDED A VESSEL.

Because it's light and mind manipulation.

In S3 we also see her spelling Stella.

Magical necklace in S2, Valtor;s sculpture in S3, S5 making herself and her sisters invisible thanks to darkness and once again power of mind.
