Referring to someone as your “partner” sounds as if you are deliberately obscuring their gender and may subtly out you. “My ex”, however, is entirely unobtrusively gender-neutral. #breakupallrelationships

at a certain point advertising stops feeling like "ah a new product that may interest me" and begins to feel like a monopolization of space and time. is anybody going to choose lays chips because theyre plastered all over fifa? or is it about dominance and ownership of the material world? lays must exist everywhere its name can possibly be plastered simply so that other advertisers cannot. simply because the space is there. its a colonization and monetization of any flat surface at any cost. because the sun must never set on the king's (corperate) chips empire

I told my little nephew that I'd wave at his airplane when it flew over my house today, and he very calmly and politely explained that it wouldn't be possible to see me due to the limitations of human vision. I said he just had to squint real hard, and he took a deep breath and went into the toddler version of "see, what you're not understanding–"

it is actually haunting me that I forgot to wave. if he looked out the airplane window, he wouldn’t have seen me…..

Go outside and wave real quick. He can not see you from wherever he is just as well as he could not see you from his plane. It's still nothing, nothing will change, but a process would occur.

I met someone when I was pretty young who had received a generous inheritance -- not enough to live a life of luxury, but enough to live on comfortably without working. He had chosen to simply keep going to school his whole life. He did get degrees, but he didn't use them for anything other than pleasure -- he had a Ph.D but also two Master's degrees, three BAs, and was currently serving an apprenticeship in blacksmithing while considering trying out some trade schools next. I thought, if I had the money I'd do that too, and then thought about how I still could learn all the time, it would just have to be a hobby instead of the career he'd made of it. It definitely changed the way I saw both education and leisure.
