That's Not Funny.

I skipped just this once to day 24 because it’s a (late) birthday gift for a friend. I premiered the film “Donnie Darko” for my friends the first week of October and they loved it, so I thought it apropos to have drawn Frank the rabbit from the film who is blind... in one eye. It makes sense.

I can’t believe there’s a ‘#dc comics,’ since DC stands for Detective Comics. You’re literally writing “Detective Comics comics.“

Gypsy Danger from the first Pacific Rim film... It was after I started inking that I learned that my reference image was, in fact, a fan redesign. Also, a warning to anyone foolish enough to think you can just write on top of bleed-proof white: you can’t, at least not that well--unless I didn’t dilute it enough. This is NOT one of my favorites.

A Shrieker from the straight-to-DVD sequel to Tremors, Tremors 2: Aftershocks. First time using Dr. Ph Martin’s Bleed-Proof White as highlight instead of covering up my mistakes. If only someone had told me Copic markers don’t write over it as well as the pens.

As of today, I’m six days behind. 

I decided to do a tribute to a classic Italian horror film I saw in my film class, Lucio Fulci’s 1981 magnum opus The beyond. Spoilers, but this particular composition is from the ending when the main characters stumble into purgatory/hell and are forever trapped. I intended to fill the backdrop with the resting corpses that litter the place but I couldn’t render it in a fashion to my liking, so I had to cover it up.

Inktober day #6: Sword

I referenced the main character in the zombie horror classic film 28 Days Later and the hands from a Google image search. Personally, I consider the “infected” in 28 Days Later zombies.

The 1998 American Godzilla film by Roland Emmerich was definitely not a good movie, however I thought Zilla’s design was inspired and unique compared to previous iterations of Godzilla.

Today I decided to go for “classy.” I was originally gonna do a piece on Bell Bev Devoe but my cute mature little sister suggested this instead.

And I chose not just any vampire, but the most well known vampire ever: Count Orlok from F.W. Murnau’s magnum opus Nosferatu (1922). Inspired by “Doodle Doods” on the Game Grumps channel, I decided to just churn this one out in a quick 20 minute instead of my trademark 24+ hours. Luckily I was able to finish it just before my inkwash brush dried up.

An image I created for a friend’s birthday... at least it would’ve been if I wasn’t more than two weeks late. This took me way longer than it should’ve, though I’d like to think it’s because it’s the first time I’ve rendered a (nearly) full character in color AND (albeit lazy) background.

Static, as he appears in the original comics (minus trademark trench coat) and as he appears in the television show “Static Shock.” Surprisingly, this is the first time I’ve ever drawn him despite being my favorite superhero overall--the only comic series I actively collect at conventions and comic stores. I hope he returns in the next season of “Young Justice.”

Atlas as he appears in the 2003 Astro Boy anime versus Astro (Boy) as he appears in one of my favorite mangas, “Pluto,” by Naoki Urasawa based on the World’s Strongest Robot arc in Tezuka’s original series and soon to be an anime film in 2018

Never heard of the album “Pumpin’;” found it when Googling for a ‘rapping’ pose to draw Pearl and leave Marina for another day. Ended up doing both.
